Again, Ebonyi NUJ Pays Condolence Visit To Family Of Fallen Colleague

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ebonyi State chapter, Comrade Sampson Nwafor on Thursday lead the team of the Information Chapel of the council to the bereaved family of late Comrade Sunday Agara who died on Tuesday in a ghastly motor accident.

Consoling the widow of the departed journalist, Comrade Nwafor said that as a union, we are pained by the sudden death of our colleague but since there is nothing we can do as mere mortals, we have to accept the incident as an act of God. He assured the widow that Ebonyi NUJ will never abandon her and her children.
The chairman who described Late Sunday Agara as a very peaceful character and a committed journalist said "We are with you now and always. Do not cry as one without hope, even though no one knows the time of his or her death but death is an unavoidable phenomenon that has no respect for any person irrespective of age or race" He further prayed for the peaceful repose of the  fallen colleague.

Contributing, the chairman, Information Chapel of NUJ, Comrade Lucy Anyim expressed shock that Agara had to die such a painful death recalling how Agara had survived similar accident few years back and urged the wife and family members to take heart and bear the loss with fortitude as nobody can question God.
Responding on behalf of the deceased family, Mr. Echem Agara appreciated the council for the solidarity and prayed God to protect members of Ebonyi NUJ from any incident that can lead to untimely death. He said that "even though we knew that our brother will certainly die one day, but we never expected it any time so soon.

Comrade Sunday Agara, was reportedly crushed by a hit-and-run driver while returning from his farm on Monday, 4th June, 2024, at Nwezenyi axis of the West Africa Trans-sahara Highway.

Until his death, Agara was a staff of the Ministry of Information and State Orientation, Ebonyi State, deployed to the State Ministry of Power and Energy as a Public Relations Officer.
By the assessment of Ebonyi State NUJ, he was one of the best Public Relations Officers under the Ebonyi State government's employ. He demonstrated competence and dexterity in the discharge of his duties as a PRO. He was easy going, calm, calculated and God fearing.

Recall that the NUJ paid similar visit on the first day of May to another member of the Union, Dr Simon Ezaka who was also crushed by vehicle in the state.
