BOSAG, ICPC Partners To Fight Corruption In Nigeria

In a bold step to enhance Nigeria’s fight against corruption, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the 36 States Attorneys General and Commissioners of Justice have pledged a unified front against the pervasive issue. This landmark commitment was solidified during a pivotal courtesy visit by the Attorneys General and Commissioners of Justice to ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Demola Bakare, Acting Director of Public Enlightenment and Education and Spokesperson for the Commission, announced that this strategic alliance marks a significant turning point in Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts. Dr. Aliyu, in his opening address, underscored the critical role of State Attorneys General as essential partners in this national crusade against corruption.
Expressing the ICPC’s readiness to formalize this collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding with Body of States Attorneys General, Dr. Aliyu assured them of the Commission's unwavering support. "I want to assure you, whatever support the body wants from ICPC, we are willing to give it to you. We need you and I hope we are going to work together," he affirmed, highlighting the Commission’s dedication to this partnership.
Leading the delegation, Dr. Odoh Ben Uruchi, Chairman of Body of States Attorneys General and the Hon. Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice of Ebonyi State, commended Dr. Aliyu on his appointment as ICPC Chairman. He lauded Dr. Aliyu’s impeccable integrity and suitability for the role, vowing that the Attorneys General would act as his allies in their respective states, vigorously supporting the national anti-corruption mission.
Dr. Odoh articulated the purpose of their visit as a demonstration of their commitment to aligning with Dr. Aliyu’s visionary leadership. He pledged their full cooperation and readiness to contribute to building a corruption-free Nigeria. “We are here to affirm our support and to assure you of our collaboration in this noble cause,” Dr. Odoh stated.
