Ikwo LG Boss demands 60 per cent employment in AE-FUNAI

 





The Chairman, Ikwo Local Government Council, Elder Stephen Orogwu has appealed to the Management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo to provide the youths of the Council with 60% employment quota to serve as encouragement to the Council.

Elder Orogwu made the appeal when the new Vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Professor Sunday Elom led other management staff of the institution on a courtesy call to him at Onuebobyi Echara, the Council headquarters.

The Council Chairman while congratulating Professor Elom on his appointment as the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of the institution explained that the Council would strengthen its partnership with Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo to achieve the desired result.

Elder Orogwu who paid glowing tribute to President Muhammad Buhari, Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu  and Governor David Nweze Umahi for giving approval to the appointment of Professor Elom and support to his services since assumption of office, expressed optimism that the new VC would perform beyond expectations.

He made it clear that for the Vice Chancellor to embark on a courtesy visit to the Council, Traditional Rulers and other leaders of the Council was an indication that his appointment  would bring about more fortunes to the people of Ikwo and Ebonyi State in general and described the visit as first of its kind since the establishment of the Institution.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Professor Sunday Elom told the gatherings that the visit was aimed at familiarizing with the leadership of the Council and to solicit support from them to enable him achieve greatness.

Professor Elom acknowledged with humility the warm reception accorded him and his team by the Council Chairman.

The Registrar of the Institution, Mrs. Odisa Okeke lauded the Council Chairman, Elder Stephen Orogwu for his hospitality and noted that the University was looking forward to strengthening the already existing relationship with her host community.
