Ebonyi: NMA Chairman receives Astra-Zeneca Vaccine

The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Ebonyi State,  Dr. Benjamin Umezuruike has received COVID-19 Astra-Zeneca vaccine.

The NMA Boss who took the vaccine at Alex Ekwueme  Federal Teaching hospital Abakaliki, the state capital made this known while briefing newsmen.


He hinted that the  importance
of vaccine cannot be overemphasized, as it would helped to prevent one from being infected with contagious diseases.

The NMA Chairman who doubles as the Chief of Staff to the President, Nigeria Medical Association stated that the vaccine is giving to people for the purpose of protection and prevention against COVID-19 pandemic, noting that he had over 65% protection having taken the vaccine, encouraged people to always take the  vaccine to fight other diseases like Lassa fever, diarrhea, etc.

Umezuruike added that the vaccine is not harmful having been confirmed and approved by the world health organization as it  has the efficacy of preventing people  from contacting the deadly virus.

He advised all the members of the association, the front line  health workers, other medical workers, Ebonyians and Nigerians not gripped by fear but to take the vaccination seriously because prevention is better than cure, saying that the vaccine is safe and preventable.

He further stated that he would retake the vaccine after four weeks to enabled him to be totally absent from contacting the virus while expressing optimism that with the vaccine, the virus would be fought to the stand still.

He thanked the President of  Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi and President General of Nigeria Centre for disease control, Chike Ihekweazu for their effort in fighting against the virus assuring to use his good office to ensure everybody get vaccinated in the state.
