The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has commended the council chairman, Hon. Engr. Chidi Nwode Henry Kelvin, popularly known as Ezi Nwafo Igbo, for distributing bags of fertilizer to farmers across the area to boost agricultural production and enhance food security.

The organisation described the intervention as a demonstration of responsive grassroots leadership and a practical commitment to improving the livelihoods of rural farmers, increasing crop yields and strengthening the local economy.

The Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ikwo LGA, Elder Hon. Stephen Nwukwu O., made the commendation in a statement, noting that agriculture remains central to the cultural heritage, economic activities and livelihood of the Ikwo people.

He said the provision of fertilizer would encourage farmers, improve agricultural productivity and contribute to increased food production, expressing optimism that the initiative would yield positive results during the harvest season.

According to him, the gesture reflects the importance of leadership that understands the needs of the people and takes concrete steps to support their economic activities.

Nwukwu also commended the council chairman for recognising the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and demonstrating a commitment to the welfare and development of communities across Ikwo Local Government Area.

The group expressed hope that the intervention would encourage greater participation in farming and contribute to the broader efforts to strengthen food security and economic prosperity in Ebonyi State.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo further expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for providing an enabling environment for local government administrations to deliver development initiatives to the grassroots.

The organisation noted that the governor's People's Charter of Needs provides a framework for responding to citizens' aspirations through people-oriented policies and programmes aimed at improving living standards across the state.

It stressed that effective collaboration between the state and local governments remains essential to translating government policies into tangible benefits for the people.

The group also called on the people of Ikwo and Ebonyi State at large to appreciate the importance of continuity in governance, arguing that sustained implementation of development policies can provide opportunities to consolidate existing achievements, complete ongoing projects and strengthen programmes designed to improve citizens' welfare.

In this regard, the organisation expressed support for Governor Nwifuru's second-term ambition, while acknowledging that electoral decisions remain subject to the democratic process.

It maintained that continuity in leadership could help sustain development initiatives and provide room for the further implementation of policies under the governor's People's Charter of Needs agenda.

The organisation equally underscored the importance of cooperation among the three tiers of government, including the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in accelerating infrastructure development, strengthening economic activities and improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Reaffirming its appreciation to the Ikwo council chairman, Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged him to sustain initiatives that support farmers, empower rural communities and promote inclusive development across the local government area.

The organisation also prayed for God's continued wisdom, strength and good health for Nwode as he continues to serve the people of Ikwo.

It reiterated its commitment to promoting unity, peace and development in Ikwo LGA, Ebonyi State and Nigeria, while calling for sustained cooperation among leaders, community organisations and residents in advancing the collective interests of the people.

The statement was signed by Elder Hon. Stephen Nwukwu O., Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ikwo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
