The Chairman of the Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission, Lady Virginia Okemini Oketa, has called on the leadership of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) to remain united and sustain fervent prayers for the continued peace, harmony and progress of both the Church and the nation.
Lady Oketa made the call while receiving a delegation of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, South-East Zone, during a courtesy visit to her office at Block 10, Centenary City, Abakaliki.
Addressing the delegation, she described women as indispensable pillars of the Church whose prayers and support remain critical to the success of every Christian body and the nation at large.
She urged members to continue interceding for Nigeria, stressing that prayer remained a powerful instrument for sustaining peace and stability. Quoting the Scriptures, she said, "... the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much".
Lady Oketa reaffirmed her membership of the association and pledged her continued commitment and support, particularly as WOWICAN prepares for its forthcoming inauguration.
During the visit, she formally introduced members of the Civil Service Commission to the delegation and commended them for their wealth of experience and dedication to Christian service.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the South-East Chairperson of WOWICAN, Dr Mrs Catherine Harold Opara, expressed appreciation to the chairman and members of the commission for the warm reception accorded the delegation despite the short notice of the visit.
She explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Civil Service Commission and WOWICAN, familiarising the association's leadership with the commission, and inviting Lady Oketa and members of the commission to attend the association's forthcoming inauguration.
In her vote of thanks, the Vice Chairperson of WOWICAN, Mrs Augustina Nwafor, thanked the chairman and members of the commission for receiving the delegation and pledged the association's continued commitment to lifting Ebonyi State and Nigeria before Almighty God in prayer.
Also during the visit, Rev. Fr. Dr Abraham Nwali offered prayers for good health, peace, unity and sustained progress for the nation.
