Ebonyi State government has resolved the leadership impasse In Ndiabor Ofoke Ishieke Village of Ebonyi Local Government Area, calling on the disputing parties to close ranks and work together for the progress of the village.

Resolution on the Leadership Tussle of Ndiabor Ofoke Agalegu Ishieke, in Ebonyi Local Government Area .The Commissioner urged the new leadership to carry along village elders and stakeholders for smooth transition.
The Commissioner's resolution reads in part;
"In a letter dated April 27, 2026, written by C .A. AIYAMEKHIR & Co Council to Nwibo Shedrach Kelechi and 16 ors, the petitioners alleged of illegal imposition of village leadership against the Coordinator of Ebonyi Development Centre, Dr Destiny Uchenna Nwodom. The petitioners appealed to the Government of Ebonyi State to consider their complaint in the right direction.
"Following the receipt of the petition, the Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict resolution invited the parties on May 2 and 29 2026, where the following findings were made as listed below.
"Following the expiration of tenure of office of the Village Executives, the out gone Village Head, Mr Sunday Alike announced the expiration of tenure of office on February 17, 2026.
"That the village two kindreds especially the Umueruea Kindred, attempted nominating/ electing their representatives in the village leadership but was unable to do so as a result of an alleged biases of some stakeholders and elders.
"That the matter has been referred to the Town Union President, Mr Friday Onicha, who shared the six (6) positions between the two contending groups in the village.
"That the decision of the Town Union President was not strictly adhered to, especially by the petitioners .
"That the Village Head had earlier written to the Executive Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government seeking the conduct of election into the village executives.
6. That the Local Government Chairman Chairman directed the Coordinator of Ebonyi DC to conduct election into the offices of the village executives.
"That the Coordinator of Ebonyi DC and some stakeholders made frantic efforts to harmonize the norminees from the two groups of Umuerue. but the petitioners opted for an election .
"That the election was conducted for the entire interested individuals and groups of Ndiabor Ofoke Agalegu Ishieke Village through Option A4, excluding some women from nowhere who came out to participate in the election.
"The allegations of shooting and harassment by the security agencies can not be substantiated. Rather, the security agencies provided security coverage during the election
"That the two contending groups fully participated in the election where the following emerged from Umueruea Kindred
a Nwachukwu Friday Theophilus -Village head
b. Nkem Nwachukwu- Chairman Power of attorney
c. Afam Azam -Youth Secretary
d. Ezekiel Nwodom- Asst Youth President
e. Ede Chukwuma- Treasurer
f. John Nwodom- Secretary Advisory Committee.
"The above named persons who were elected from Umueruea Kindred were sworn by the Coordinator together with the nominees who won the election from Igbojima kindred in the venue of the election.
Decision
"Flowing from the findings above, the State Government hereby upholds the election and the swearing-in of the newly nominated and elected Executives of Ndiabor Ofoke Village Executives.
"Government advises the aggrieved parties from Ndiabor Ofoke Agalegu Ishieke Village to close ranks with the elected officials while the new leadership should ensure inclusive governance in the village administration.
"The new leadership should carry along village elders and stakeholders for smooth transition".
