PDP Leadership Crises Deepens As Two Governorship Candidates Emerges In Ebonyi

The leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened following the presentation of Certificates of Return to two rival candidates for the 2027 Benue State governorship election.


The 2023 Guber candidate of PDP, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii and Mr Alexander Eze claimed to have received Certificate of Return at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, after emerging as the governorship candidate of the PDP.

It is yet clear whose faction both candidates are loyal to. But rumor has it Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii popularly known as Anyichuks' seems to be in the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, while Mr Alexander Eze, who is from Izzi Local Government Area is alleged to be working for the ruling party, the All progressives congress APC.


However, in a parallel development, the rival faction of the party led by former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), also tipped to be interested in the candidature of Mr Alexander Eze, in respect to zoning system in the State.


The parallel presentation of Certificates of Return marks  a fresh chapter in the protracted leadership crisis that has bedevilled the PDP into rival camps, with both factions laying claim to the party’s structure and leadership.
