A socio-cultural, economic and political organisation established to promote the unity, welfare, development and collective interests of Ezza people, 'Ezza Ezekuna Development Association', has declared its full backing for Governor Francis Nwifuru 's re-election bid, declaring it's alignment with the established zoning arrangement governing political succession in Ebonyi State.
EEDA, in a press conference held in Abakaliki, the State capital, expressed its firm support for the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, encouraging the government to sustain its developmental momentum and assure it of the full cooperation and partnership of Ezza people in all efforts directed at building a more prosperous, peaceful and united Ebonyi State.
"We declare our irrevocable endorsement of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term as Governor of Ebonyi State. This endorsement is made freely, without coercion and without reservation. It is grounded in his demonstrated commitment to peace, development and inclusive governance, and in our conviction that the continuity of his administration is in the best interest of Ezza people and of Ebonyi State as a whole. Ezza Ezekuna stands firmly and irrevocably behind the Governor".
The group declared its firm conviction that peace, security and good governance are the indispensable foundations upon which genuine and lasting development must be built.
"Without peace, investment retreats. Without security, communities cannot plan and families cannot thrive. Without good governance, public resources are dissipated and the gap between what is promised and what is delivered widens into a chasm of public disillusionment.
"We acknowledge, with genuine appreciation, the efforts of the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in promoting peace, exp opportunities for citizens and advanci1ng developmental initiatives across Ebonyi State. We commend, in particular, the administration's commitment to human capital development, infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, educational advancement and the restoration of peace in communities that previously experienced persistent and destabilising conflict. These are not trivial achievements. They represent the deliberate application of governmental authority to the improvement of lives, and they deserve to be recognised as such".
The Ezza Ezekuna Development Association said it believes firmly in justice, fairness, equity and political stability.
"We align ourselves fully with the established zoning arrangement governing political succession in Ebonyi State, and we do so not as a new or recent conversion but as an expression of a position that the leaders and people of Ezza Ezekuna have previously declared and consistently maintained. That position has never changed, and it shall not change. The governorship of Ebonyi State remains, in accordance with the prevailing zoning understanding, in Ebonyi North until 2031. No reasonable Ezza person, properly informed of the history of our state and properly committed to the collective stability of Ebonyi, would oppose this arrangement. Those who do so act neither on behalf of Ezza people nor in the interest of the peace that all our communities depend upon.
"We reject any attempt to portray Ezza people as being in opposition to these principles. Ezza people have always stood on the side of justice, and under the leadership of this Association, they shall continue to do so".
On the recent purported communique by Unwuekumenyi leaders council, the Ezza Ezekuna Development Association' has this to say; "Having carefully reviewed the recent press conference and communiqué issued by a group describing itself as the "Umuekumenyi Leaders' Council," EEDA considers it a matter of duty, in the interest of truth and responsible public discourse, to place its position firmly on record.
"Let us be direct. The so-called Umuekumenyi Leaders' Council has no legal existence. It is not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. It has no constitutional foundation within the traditions or governance structures of any of the constituent clans of Umuekumenyi. It is, in plain terms, a contraption — assembled hurriedly and without mandate by individuals pursuing personal political agendas under the cover of a name designed to create the illusion of collective authority. The public, the media and all relevant institutions are advised to treat it as such.
"The individuals who participated in that charade do not represent any identifiable section, clan or community within Umuekumenyi. They were not elected. They were not delegated. They were not authorised by any traditional institution, socio-cultural organisation or community assembly within the Umuekumenyi family. They speak for themselves alone, and the positions they have articulated in their communiqué must be understood as personal opinions — not as the voice of any community, not as the position of Umuekumenyi and certainly not as the stance of Ezza Ezekuna.
"We have reviewed the substance of that communiqué. Its principal claims are either weakly presented, founded on faulty historical context or constructed to serve a political purpose that has nothing to do with the genuine interests of Umuekumenyi people. Where the communiqué makes assertions about the collective position of Umuekumenyi, it does so without any consultation with the people it claims to represent. Where it takes political positions, it does so in service of personal interests, not communal ones. A communiqué without mandate, issued by a body without legal standing, on behalf of a constituency that was never consulted, deserves neither credibility nor amplification".
The group however, declare its full support for the principles of peace, political equity and zoning as the governing framework for political succession in Ebonyi State, stressing that the governorship of Ebonyi State remains in Ebonyi North in accordance with the established zoning arrangement and shall resist, by every legitimate means available, any attempt to subvert the arrangement or to present its violation as the will of Ezza people.
The National President of Ezza Ezekuna Development Association', Chief Kingsley Akam, the National Secretary, Comrade Uchechukwu Edeh and other leaders of the Association, called on all Ezza Ezekuna sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora to join the historic effort of the leaders reject division, misinformation and every form of selfishness that diminishes their collective strength as a people and embrace unity not as a slogan but as a discipline.
