WAEC: Ebonyi Warns Against Exam Malpractice

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Donatus Chukwuma Ilang, has urged students, stakeholders and officials of the West African Examinations Council to comply strictly with examination guidelines and avoid acts capable of undermining the credibility of the exercise.

Speaking to candidates shortly before the commencement of the examination, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Mary Ngozi Otozi, who represented the Commissioner, advised students to have confidence in their abilities and shun all forms of examination malpractice.
She warned individuals involved in examination fraud and related offences to desist, stressing that the state government would not tolerate activities capable of compromising academic standards.

The permanent Secretary, disclosed that surveillance teams and security personnel had been deployed across examination centres to monitor the conduct of the exercise and ensure strict compliance with laid down rules.
She maintained that offenders, regardless of status, would be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Mrs Otozi, assured candidates and the general public of a smooth and hitch free examination process across the state.

She also appealed to students and residents to report suspicious activities to Commissioner , or herself  directly or to members of the monitoring teams, which include directors in the education sector, Education Secretaries, Zonal Inspectors of Education, Assistant Inspectors of Education and accredited journalists.
The permanent Secretary, reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to maintaining discipline, transparency and integrity within the education system.

She Commended Nnodo secondary school, Urban Modern School and Holy Ghost Secondary school, Abakaliki for their comportment and condusive  environments.
