In commemoration of the 2026 National Workers’ Day, the Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, proudly identified with the resilient and industrious workforce of Ebonyi State during the grand celebration held at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.
Addressing the jubilant workers, the federal lawmaker extended warm felicitations to the entire labour force, applauding their unwavering commitment, diligence, and invaluable contributions to the socio-economic growth and sustainable development of Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large. He emphasized that the strength of any progressive society is anchored on the productivity and dedication of its workforce, noting that “every honest labour deserves not only recognition but meaningful and commensurate reward".
In a demonstration of solidarity and people-oriented representation, Chinedu Ogah Foundation announced a generous donation of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) to support the transportation needs of workers, further underscoring his enduring commitment to their welfare, dignity, and overall wellbeing.
Ogah, who is the 2027 Consensus Candidate for Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, also used the opportunity to commend the visionary, pragmatic, and worker-friendly leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State, for his transformative labour policies. He particularly lauded the implementation of the ₦90,000 minimum wage, which aligns with prevailing economic realities, as well as the consistent payment of an annual Christmas bonus of ₦150,000 to workers, initiatives widely acknowledged as hallmarks of compassionate, inclusive, and people-centered governance.
The celebration not only served as a platform to honour the invaluable contributions of workers but also reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the present administration to advancing progressive policies that promote workers’ welfare, enhance productivity, and strengthen socio-economic empowerment across the state.
The event was graced by distinguished personalities, including the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, who represented the Governor, as well as the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, alongside other top government functionaries, labour leaders, and critical stakeholders.
