In a bid to develop and harness young talents for future exploits in global sports competition, the sports writers Association of Nigeria,
SWAN, Ebonyi State chapter, in conjunction with the Cricket Association is set to commence zonal secondary school cricket championship across the state.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the cricket championship at Pa-Ngele Oruta township stadium, the chairman of the local organizing committee,Mr.Emeka Opara stated that everything is set for the kickoff on Friday,10th April,2025.
He explained that the committee has put all the necessary modalities in place to ensure a successful championship among all the selected secondary schools in the state.
On his part,the chairman of Sports Writers Association(SWAN), Ebonyi State Chaptre, Comrade Ndubuisi Nwogha further X-rayed the importance of the Cricket championship, saying that it will give talented Ebonyians ample opportunity to showcase their talents and have wider chances of being selected to represent Nigeria in global sports competitions.
He ceased the opportunity to appreciate governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru's leadership ingenuity in sports development in Ebonyi State, adding that Ebonyi is setting the pace courtesy of governor Nwifuru.
In attendance during the press conference were some national and state leaders of SWAN, among other journalists.
