Ebonyi APC Congress ; Emegha,Others Re -Elected

Chief. Stanley Okoro-Emegha has emerged as the Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded State Congress of the party.

The party also re-elected Hon. Chinedu Alphonsus Nwali as State Deputy Chairman and Chief Charles Chukwuma Ofoke as State Secretary.

The trio were re-elected alongside 33 other State Working Committee members for another term of four years at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki.

The State Working Committee members were returned unopposed through a consensus arrangement in line with the constitution of the All Progressives Congress.

The consensus arrangement was adopted through a motion moved by the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and seconded by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa.

Okoro-Emegha, alongside 35 other State Working Committee members of the party, was returned for a second term in office as the party adopted a consensus election.

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, while speaking at the event held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, attributed the success of the congress to the peaceful disposition of Nigeria’s leader and national leader of the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I thank our father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for making this tremendous sacrifice,” he said.

The governor observed that President Tinubu was the reason the congress was not fraught with rage, rancour and political resentment.

“It is through him that we are enjoying peace and stability today. Without him, this event would not have been possible,” he added.

He explained that stakeholders of the party in the state approved the adoption of consensus candidates to eliminate rancour and strengthen the party.

“I commend the leaders of the party for accepting our decision to go by consensus candidates.

“They have made sacrifices, and God will give them what is greater than party executive positions,” he said.

The State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, in his acceptance speech on behalf of the 36 State Working Committee members, thanked the leader of the party in the state and Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, as well as other critical stakeholders for their confidence in the SWC members.

He promised to rally his colleagues to advance, project and protect the interests of the governor, leaders and members of the party in the state.

Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mrs Rita Maduagwu, said the consensus arrangement complied with the constitution of the party and APC guidelines for the congress.
