Murder: S/Court Exoneration of Hamza Al-Mustapha, Symbolic, Landmark, Says FOHAA

An organization, Friends of Hamza Mustapha says  the Supreme Court's dismissal of murder case brought before it, alleging complicity of Hamza Al-Mustapha in the tragic murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola is not symbolic, but landmark.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Secretary of the organization, Evang (Hon) Dr Reuben Uche Egwu, a copy which was made available to Ebonyi Times, FOHAA described the judgement as "landmark" urging Nigerians to "respect the apex court's verdict over the tragic incident.

The statement reads:

"The Friends of Major General Alhaji Hamza Al Mustapha ( warmly welcome the landmark judgment of Nigeria’s Supreme Court which finally dismissed the long-standing murder case relating to the tragic death of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola and unequivocally absolved Major General Al-Mustapha of any complicity.

"This judgment, delivered after a protracted legal journey spanning many years, represents the triumph of truth, due process, and the rule of law.

"It brings to a close a painful chapter not only for Major General Al-Mustapha and his family, but also for a nation that has long yearned for closure on this deeply emotional matter.

"We commend the Supreme Court for its courage, independence, and meticulous adherence to justice.

"The apex court’s decision reaffirms confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary as the last hope of the common man and a stabilizing pillar of our democracy. Justice, though delayed, has not been denied.

"While acknowledging the enduring pain associated with the loss of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, a respected pro-democracy figure, we urge Nigerians to see this judgment as an opportunity for healing, reconciliation, and national cohesion. Justice must always be guided by facts and the law, not sentiments or assumptions.

"Major General Hamza Al Mustapha has consistently maintained his innocence and faith in the Nigerian judicial system.

"The Supreme Court’s decision today vindicates that stance and restores his honour and dignity as a citizen who subjected himself to the full weight of the law.

"We call on Nigerians of goodwill to respect the judgment, uphold the sanctity of the courts, and rally behind a renewed vision of unity, peace, and shared prosperity.

"Our nation can only move forward when justice is allowed to speak freely and institutions are strengthened.

"Nigeria’s future lies in collective commitment to truth, fairness, and nation-building above all divisions.
"Let this judgment serve as a reminder that a united and prosperous Nigeria is possible when justice prevails"
