The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed security agents to carry out thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to the recent attack on the people of Oso Edda, in Edda Local Government Area of the State
The Governor described the attack as barbaric and flagrant disregard to sanctity of human life.
" I received with rude shock the news of the recent attack on Oso Edda which claimed lives and led to destruction of property. This act of callousness is a direct affront to our commitment to restoring peace in our communities and we cannot tolerate it." The Governor warned.
"As a government the security of lives and property of our people is of utmost importance and no effort will be spared to get to the root of the matter."
The Governor says he is collaborating with law enforcement agents to fish out the perpetrators, while appealing to the affected community not to engage in reprisals.
The Governor directed law enforcement agents to take swift action and mobilize fully to the area to forestall reoccurrence or reprisals
"My prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in the unfortunate incident and be rest assured that they will not be left alone"
According to the statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Dr Monday Uzor, the Governor called on communities in the state to always embrace peace as no development will thrive in an atmosphere of violence and destruction.
Recall that over four people of Okporojo in Oso, Ed's Local Government Area of the state we're on Thursday night gruesomely murdered and beheaded while uunidentified number were abducted as houses were set ablaze by yet be identified assailants.
The killing has been a reoccurring act in Okporojo Oso Edda owing to an aged long boundary dispute between Okporojo people and their Amasiri neighbor, Afikpo local government area. The crises seems to have defied all know solution as it has claimed countless lives in most barbaric manner.
In an effort to restore peace in the area, Ebonyi state government recentlly, handed the disputed land over to the Nigeria Army to serve as Army training center.
