Ahead of August 24, 2026 Local Government Election in Ebonyi state, the Ebonyi state independent Electoral Commission EBSIEC, has called on the participating political parties to follow the electoral guidelines and timetable earlier released by the commission.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Pastor Enyi Patrick, Chairman of EBSIEC and made available to Journalists in Abakaliki.
The statement reads in part.:
"The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) wishes to remind all registered political parties in Ebonyi State, and indeed the general public that the period approved in the Election Timetable for the conduct of Party primaries for the 22nd August, 2026 Local Government Elections in the State is
"December 4th, 2025 to February 3rd, 2026.
Within this period, each political party is expected to conduct it's primaries on any chosen date, provided that such date, venue, and time are duly communicated to the Commission, ahead of the primaries to enable designated officials of the Commission to monitor the exercise, in line with the law.
"Meanwhile, the collection of EBSIEC Form 2 which is required for the submission of list of nominated candidates, after the said primaries is still ongoing at the Headquarters of EBSIEC at No 1 Onwe Road, Abakaliki.
"Political parties are free to visit the office to collect the form on or before the date of their primaries. The Chairman of the Commission, Enyi Patrick, therefore requests all Political Parties to take advantage of the sufficient time provided for their internal activities to conclude their primaries including resolution of disputes if any before the 3rd of Febuary, 2026 being the last day for the submission of nominated candidates to EBSIEC as indicated in the Election Timetable".
