Abakaliki FC Secures Another Home Victory

Abakaliki Football Club has recorded a morale-boosting one-nil victory over Sporting Lagos FC in a Nigeria National League encounter played at the Pa Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, over the weekend.

The hard-fought win has further boosted the confidence of the team ahead of their next league fixture against Osun United.

Speaking after the match, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports, Nwankwo Pius Nwankwo, described the game as an exciting contest that ended positively for the home side.
He said the players displayed great commitment and quality throughout the encounter.

Also reacting, the Chairman of the Abakaliki Supporters Club, Prince Morris Nnanna Mbam, said the result clearly showed the team’s readiness to compete strongly in the league.
He noted that despite being drawn among tough opponents, Abakaliki FC has proven its determination and preparedness for the competition.

However, Prince Mbam expressed concerns over what he described as questionable officiating decisions, alleging that the team was denied a clear penalty and a legitimate goal. He encouraged the players to maintain their winning mentality, especially in home matches.

Head Coach of Abakaliki FC, Coach Star Plus, acknowledged the quality of Sporting Lagos FC, who came into the match as league leaders.
He said the players remained focused from the first whistle to the last and deserved the victory.

The coach attributed the team’s recent successes to consistency and renewed focus, adding that attention has now shifted to the next challenge against Osun United.

With momentum on their side, Abakaliki FC will be hoping to build on the victory when they take on Osun United in their next Nigeria National League fixture.
