Killing; Ohaozara Council Chairman Announces Curfew

The Executive Chairman, Ohaozara  Local Government Area, Ajah Chinonso Consider, has condenmed the killing of one Mr David Anoke, at Court Area of Okposi in the council Area on Friday, by yet to be identified assailants.

In a statement signed by the council Chairmen, declared 6pm -6am  curfew for motorcycle and tricycle operators within the area, warning that anyone caught flouting the curfew will face severe sanction.

He enjoined the people to remain calm as the security agencies are working round the clock to apprehend the culprits.

"I, Hon. Ajah Chinonso Consider, the Executive Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area, with a heavy heart, strongly condemn in totality the gruesome killing of Mr. David Anoke (popularly known as Davido) at Court Area, Okposi, on Friday, 29th August, 2025, by unidentified gunmen.

"This serial trajectory of extrajudicial killings in Ohaozara must stop. Ohaozara has always been known as a land of peace, unity, and co-existence, fostering economic growth and development across our communities, Uburu, Okposi, and Ugwulangwu. We cannot allow the activities of criminal elements to tarnish this reputation or destabilize our people.

"I call for calm, collaboration, and cooperation from all residents as security agencies at both the Federal and State levels have already commenced swift investigations to ensure that the perpetrators of this evil act are apprehended and brought to justice.

"As part of preventive and proactive measures, with immediate effect, movement of motorcycles (bikes) and tricycles (keke) in and out of Okposi between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m daily is hereby prohibited. The bike and keke curfew is a security intervention aimed at assisting security agencies in fishing out criminal elements and forestalling further occurrences. Henceforth, any person found moving with a bike and keke within the restricted hours shall have the bike and keke impounded and handed over to the appropriate security agencies.

"I appeal and urge stakeholders, traditional rulers, civil society groups, religious leaders, town union executives, and community leaders 
who have been instrumental in keeping Ohaozara peaceful to continue lending their unwavering support. We do not have any other home but Ohaozara, and together we must protect it from the menace of extrajudicial killings, violence, and other criminal activities.

"Let us stand united, remain vigilant, and work collectively with security agencies to restore lasting peace to our land"
