A community member in Unumgbala, Oshiri, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, , Agu Opu Odefa had apologized to Chief Harrison Njoku Ogenyi who contested the traditional rulership of the community.
Chief Ogenyi has been challenging the declaration of Chief Samuel Opu as the traditional ruler of the community by the committee that conducted the election of the traditional ruler of the community last year.
Agu was said to have made defamatory statement against Ogenyi which was considered by the traditional rulership contestant as offensive and demanded a retraction from him including apology.
Agu, in a statement made available to journalists, retracted the statement which he described as unfounded.
He said "I, ,Hon.Agu Opu Odefa of Umumgbala Oshiri do hereby retract the statement that I made on 23rd of March 2024 against the person of Chief Harrison Ogenyi Njoku of Isieke Oshiri both in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and consequently plead that the general public should disregard such unfounded information that was earlier made public"
