The member representing Ikwo/Ezza-South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah OON, extended his warm congratulations to the Ikwo Noyo community on their traditional New Yam Festival, also known as Nnesweoha.
Speaking at Ili Noyo in Ekpelu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, the lawmaker and a recognized custodian of culture, praised the festival as a vibrant celebration of the Ikwo people's rich cultural heritage and the strong bonds that unite them.
He highlighted that the New Yam Festival is more than a time to honor ancestors and give thanks for a bountiful harvest. It is a moment to promote unity, strengthen family and community relationships, reflect on the past, and look forward with hope and optimism.
Ogah prayed that the 2025 festival would bring good news and positive influences to the people of Ikwo, expressing his belief that they would experience greater progress in their businesses, careers, and all other aspects of life.
“This Nnesweoha is the end of bad things in Ikwo Local Government Area,” he said. “Whoever wishes good for another, let good visit them, and whoever thinks evil of another person, let them have a taste of all they wish others.”
He encouraged everyone to come together, share stories, and partake in the joyful activities that make the festival a special occasion.

Celestine Igberi Nweme; the Honorable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Nweze Umahi, represented by Arch. Christian Asaga Nwali, Ikwo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sunday Basil Nwankwo, Ezza South Local Government Chairman, Hon. Mrs Euphemia Nwali, the former governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi, the Member representing Ikwo North State Constituency, Hon. Ifeanyi Nwakpu, the Deputy Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon.
