Gov. Nwifuru Approves Salary Increase For Ebonyi Civil Servants

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has announced the addition of twenty thousand naira (#20000) to the current minimum of the Civil Servants In the state..

Briefing journalists on the outcome of the state Executive council meeting held on Wednesday at the new State Executive council chambers, the Commissoner for information and state orientation, Barr. Ikeuwa Omebe said the minimum wage increament is applied to all cadres  of civil servant and takes immediate effect.

"Inline with the avowed determination of His Excellency the Governor to better the lots of Ebonyi civil/public servants, EXCO approved a further increment on the current minimum wage of Ebonyi State workers with an additional Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) across board"..


The Commissoner equally announced the approval of the state Executive council for the implementation of the eight year tenure policy tenure for Directors and permanent Secretaries and approved for immediate retirement of the affect permanent Secretaries and Directors.


"Implementation of the Eight (8) Year Tenure Policy for Directors and Immediate Retirement of all Directors Who have served Eight (8) years on same cadre in the civil/public service of the State.

"EXCO after an exhaustive deliberation on the matter approved immediate implementation of the policy on affected Permanent Secretaries and Directors".

According to the commissoner for information, other things discussed
Include approval of fees for undergraduate Programs for 2025/2026 Academic Session for
ICT University, Oferekpe and award of scholarship for 140 undergraduate students of the University.

"Following the state government commitment towards making the ICT University, Oferekpe stand at shoulder level with other prestigious universities across the world, EXCO after an extensive deliberation approved a total of Six Hundred and sixty Nine Thousand Naira (N669,000) only as school fees for 2025/2026 academic session.

"Going by the approval, a minimum of first installment of 60% for all courses must be paid in the first two weeks of first semester while the balance must be paid in the first week of the second semester.
Other approvals by EXCO in this context include;

"The award of scholarship to one hundred and fourty (140) indigenous students representing Ten (10) beneficiaries from each of the Thirteen LGAs and an addition of Ten (10) beneneficries from the host communities of ICT University, Oferekpe"

On the Area of health, the Commissoner revealed the approval of the state Executive council for the establishment of the Ebonyi State Virology Research and Innovation Centre.

"To strengthen the state's capacity for research, diagnosis, surveillance of viral diseases, training  inline with the state's public health needs and global scientific advancements, EXCO approved the establishment of the Ebonyi State Virology Research and Innovation Centre".

Recall that apart from the only virology centre located in Edo state,  there is no other virology centre located within the South East and other neighbouring states.
