We're Going To Prioritize Quality Education In Ebonyi -- New Education Commissoner Vows

The new Commissioner for Education, (Primary and Secondary) Dr Donatus Chukwuma Ilang has vowed to strengthen the priority that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has placed on primary and secondary Education system in Ebonyi.

The Commissoner disclosed this during onsport visit to some schools in the state. He  used the visit to inspect the infrastructural status of the schools and as well, monitored the ongoing NECO examinations in the schools.
He commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for prioritizing the Education sector through salary increment, infrastructural facelift and recruitment of teachers who are currently undergoing documentation in the state secondary Education Board (SEB).

"We're going to prioritize quality in our education especially in the Area of monitoring and also implementing the standard curriculum that will also match with the people's charter of needs in Education where we have to ensure that entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and Education for self reliance at all levels is achieved. For us to do this, we have to start from primary and secondary because that's the bases and when we catch them young the feature of Ebonyi will be very bright.

"Education is very important and key to the development of any society and the fundamental key to attending international standard in Education is enhancing the primary and secondary Education. That is the basic for Educational knowledge and that is why His Excellency, our dear Governor has prioritize Education because he seen that it plays a key role to the development of the society".

Dr Ilang expressed reservations on the unkept nature and conducts of students and pupils in some of the schools visited and tasked school management to sit up in their responsibility.

Some of the schools visited include; Girls High school Azuiyiokwu, PRESCO Secondary School, Community Secondary School, Umuogjara, Ezza North Local Government Area, Izhia Girls High school and City Salt School in Umuoghara, Ezza North.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Special assistant on primary and secondary Education,Mr Dustan Nwogbaga and the permanent Secretary, Mrs Ngozi Otozi.
