USAID State2State Holds Audit Findings In Ebonyi

The USAID State Accountability, Transparency and effectiveness (State2State) Activity has held a one-day workshop on how to develop, Launch and implement plan to address priority Audit findings in Ebonyi State.

Delivering speeches and lectures at the workshop, the Public Financial Management Specialist of the State2State Activity, Mr. Chibueze Nwonye said that the audit findings on Auditor General Reports is a key interest to the State2State Activity especially in the Education, Health, Water Sanitation and Hygiene sectors in Ebonyi State. 

He maintained that the findings and recommendations made would be beneficial in the implementation of the current budget which will lead to proper service delivery. 

The Ebonyi State Auditor General, Dr. Samuel Udu while speaking with media said that the importance of Audit findings is to ensure accountability, probity and good governance adding that his office had done a lot to ensure this  having worked and handed over to the State House of Assembly through Public Accounts Committee. 
He maintained that the findings in the field testify the readiness of his office to ensure that the state government get the best accountability records. 

Dr. Udu  thanked the State2State Activity which has helped tremendously in preparing Audit manual which is a guide to audit preparation. 

He however explained to the general public that audit findings are not for witch hunting, rather it is meant to put audit records straight and use it to correct any seen fault in future auditing. 

The  Communication Specialist  of  the State2State Activity , Nneka Acholonu Egbuna presented communication strategies for rolling out a plan to address the audit findings.

Speaking also, the Chairman of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Godwin Abiri thanked State2State Activity for their involvements in improving governments ability to plan and budget, monitor the budget and be accountable for every item budgeted. 

He said that Ebonyi State has benefited much from the intervention most importantly, the Public Accounts Department.
