Senator Ken Eze stated this at the lunch of audience Measurement System for the Broadcast stations in Nigeria on Thursday, in Abuja, the nation's capital.
He said, "I have always advocated for the need for planners to ensure accuracy of data while planning so that credible result can be achieved.

"I must commend the Ministry of Information and National Orientation for this laudable initiative of having a veritable background of collection of data and Measurement Nigeria's Television Audience Viewers.

"As we are about migrating into digital switchover, all these will help to develop the industry".

On the legislative backing needed to make the new initiative to work as planned, Senator Eze said that the National Assembly will give the Ministry the legislative framework that will guide their operation on this initiative.

"Even after developing this package, they will still need an Act to support them in the implementation. So we are going to give them the support they need to succeed in this laudable initiative ," Eze said.

He however urged that more carefulness should be deployed in the process of collection of data so that they will arrive at the accurate results.

The programme which had in attendance the Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Director General National Broadcasting Commison, Mr. Charles Ebube and other stakeholders in the Information Communication sector, was piloted by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation through National Broadcasting Commission.

The Audience Measurement System when fully implemented, will contribute to the growth of the nation's GDP and help in the use of accurate data to make informed discussions. This development will also, to a great extent, attract investment into the country.

The demography of the people watching television programmes will help the broadcast stations to know the type of content and programmes to put out for the public to watch.
