Ikwo Leaders, Stakeholders Review Plans For Council Election

Stakeholders of Ikwo Noyo clan, within the folds of the All Progressives Congress, APC on Sunday 19th May 2024 held an all inclusive meeting at the council headquarters, Onuebonyi Echara to review the party's preparedness for the forthcoming LGA Council election in Ebonyi State. 


The meeting, hosted by the Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Sunday Basil Nwankwo, was chaired by the LGA APC Chairman, Hon. Sunday Onuzor. In their welcome address, the Council Boss and the APC Chairman, explained that the meeting was to review the progress so far made by the party, look at the roles of its leaders in Ikwo LGA and discuss majorly on the upcoming chairmanship and ward councillors election.

Hon. Barr. Nwankwo expressed gratitude to the people of Ikwo Noyo Clan for their unwavering support confidence and for endorsing his second term in office. He commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his steadfast support and sensitivity to the needs of Ikwo Noyo Clan. 

The Council Boss, urged ward councillors to ensure that the forthcoming elections do not incite conflict, encouraging stakeholders to use their positions to maintain peace and ensure that APC wins with high mergin of votes.

In their remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Moses Ije Odunwa and the Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, among others praised Governor Nwifuru for his unambiguous support for Ikwo Noyo Clan and his endorsement of the second term bid of Hon. Barr. Sunday Nwankwo. They urged the chairman to continue with his exemplary leadership, ensuring progress and stability within the clan.

The stakeholders meeting drew notable political figures including the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa,  Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah OON, Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza Federal House of Representatives, current and past political office holders alongside various party executives, ward councillors, women leaders, and youths.

Highlights of the meeting was the unanimous vote of confidence on the Council Boss, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Reps Chinedu Ogah and the party leadership. Others were the harmonization of plans for the election and directives on stakeholders at Ward levels to handle the issue of their candidates for councilorship election without rancour and to possibly agree on consensus candidates to avoid much rit.
