EBHA Committee On LG, Chieftaincy Matters Lauds Ikwo Council Chair On Resources Management

Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, and Chieftaincy Matters has applauded the Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Barr. Sunday Nwankwo for his prudent resource management and budget implementation in the Council. The committee gave the commendation while on oversight function in Ikwo Local Government Council on 13th day of March, 2024.

Speaking at the Council headquarters, Chairman of the Committee,  Hon.Obinna Mbam said the oversight visit to all the LGAs across the State was to streamline the activities of Local Governments for better performance. He added that the Committee visit was to receive first-hand information on the budgeting processes, financing in the Local Government and details of projects executed in the interest of the people.

Hon. Mbam and his team applauded the progressive performance of the Ikwo council chairman and his cordial relationship with the good people of Ikwo Noyo.

Also speaking,  the Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kingsley  Ikoro urged the Council Chairman to keep on with the cordial relationship with his people and continue with  the provisions of democracy dividends to Ikwo Noyo People, adding that the team is highly impressed by his optimal performance, especially in the areas of Agriculture, infrastructure and empowerment.

Other members of the team who spoke during the visit thanked the council Chairman for his giant strides across the Local Government Area. They urged the chairman to keep up his pragmatic and leadership style.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Council Boss, Barr Sunday Nwankwo expressed optimism in the capacity of persons in the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. He noted that the oversight function of the Committee will help Local Government across the State to achieve its set target in terms of developmental projects. 
Barr. Nwankwo outlined some of the legacy projects the projects of his administration to include opening and reconstruction of some rural roads across the twenty electoral wards, provision of water, procurement of transformers and extension of electricity to some communities, rehabilitation of hospitals, Palm tree plantation at Opefi Nnoyo Integrated farm, registration of cooperative societies for twenty wards and extension to link them for Agricultural inputs among others. He added that his administration will collaborate with the State Assembly in providing meaningful development at the grassroots level in Ikwo, stressing that the visit will spur him to work harder for the development of the Local Government Area.

The committee members were later taken round major projects in the Local Government for inspection.

High point of the visit was the motion by the Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ikoro for the re-election of Hon. Barr. Sunday Nwankwo for him to continue the effective service delivery which recorded a large accolades.

Also present to receive the team are the Vice chairman, Hon.Mrs. Chinasa Itumo, Secretary of the Council, Hon. Mrs.Nkechi Onele, Ward Councilors, Supervisory Councilors, the Cashier and heads of department.
