His statement reads:
"My attention has just been drawn to reports in the media (both social and conventional media) purporting that Onicha autonomous community has elected a new traditional ruler. The report is nothing but a fake news; a mere imagination of a certain aspirant.

"For the records,Onicha autonomous community is yet to elect a new traditional ruler to replace our departed Ezeogo.

"It's important to inform the general public that Onicha autonomous community has just commenced the process which will eventually lead to the election of the Enyi 11 of Onicha Igboeze. All aspirants are therefore advised to submit themselves to the process.

"Consequently, the good people of Onicha autonomous community, and the general public are enjoined to ignore the reports, and to continue to work harmoniously with the community to ensure a peaceful election of a new traditional ruler for the community.

"In no distant time, in line with laid down procedures and relevant laws, Onicha autonomous community will elect a new traditional ruler for the community, and he will be duly presented to the appropriate authority for recognition. Any other thing to the contrary is a big joke, and should be regarded as such".
