Youths has been enjoined to always celebrate their mothers while they are still living to reciprocate the sacrifices mothers made to raise them.

Hon. Uzor, the Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, gave the charge during the conferment of Ezinne title to his mother, Mrs Jerina Nwafor Uzor and step mother, Mrs Margaret Ogo Uzor by the Presbyterian Church, Okpoma, Onicha Local Government Area of the state.

Uzor said he celebrated the co-wives for their steadfastness in God and good upbringing of their children.

He commended the co-wives for their resilience and hard work despite challenges of life.

Two aged co-wives in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Jerina Nwafor Uzor and Mrs. Margret Ogo Uzor said that they were happy to be celebrated alive and not in death by their church, St. James Presbyterian Church, Okpoma Onicha, Onicha local government area of the state their place and their son, Hon. Chidiebere Uzor who is the Chairman of the local government.

The co-wives were recently honoured by the Presbyterian Church in the area with the Ezinne titles which means good mothers.

They were celebrated by Uzor their son in a ceremony that attracted notable personalities from all walks of life.

The co-wives who gave birth to children that have excelled in life, said they were happy that they were celebrated alive instead of death as inherent in the society today.

Speaking to our correspondent,  Mrs Jerina Nwafor Uzor said it is always good for one to be celebrated alive when the person is alive so that such person can enjoy such celebration.

“I am very glad for being celebrated alive. It is always good to celebrate a person when he/she is alive. I thank our church and our son for celebrating me and my co-wife and friend Margret”, she stated.

On her part Margret Ogo Uzor called on parents to take proper care of their children to enable them reap the benefits of their children in their old ages

“I am very much excited because I didn’t know that I will be celebrated alive like this. There was a time it seems all hopes were lost in my life but God preserved me and made me to see this type of God thing in my life.  I thank Hon. Chidiebere Uzor for celebrating me and my co-wife, Jerina.

“I encourage mothers to train their children well so that they will reap the benefits of training their children. If you train your children very well, you will get the benefit which is what I and my co-wife are getting today.

“When you train your children very well, you will be happy because those children will be doing well and make you happy. Good children are assets while bad ones bring heartbreak to their parents. So, parents should take proper care of their children”, she said.

The former Chairman of Onicha local government, Felix Igboke who is the present Commissioner for Project Monitoring in the state called for polygamy in marriages.

He noted that that Christianity was reducing family sizes today because of its one-man-one-wife teachings.

We have to think of going back to what our forefathers laid for us, marrying two wives and beyond. Loot at how our two beautiful mothers are seated and celebrated[ Mrs. Jerina Nwafor Uzor and Mrs. Margret Ogo Uzor. Look at how beautiful they are, look at how they are sitting like two best of  friends. That is how it should be, my father also married two wives.

“So, if you look at our population now, you will know that we are going down in population and this is what Christianity and all that brought to us”, he stated.
