The wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs Mary Maudlin Uzoamaka Nwifuru, have enjoined the chairpersons of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state to take the sensitization on the fight against child trafficking, violence against women and other vices, to their respective domain, with the view to eradicating the ugly menace in the society.
Mrs Nwifuru gave the charge on Tuesday, during the flag off ceremony of 2023 Ebonyi Women August Meeting held at Pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium, Abakaliki.
She lamented the negative effect the ugly menace have impact on the people and vowed to sustain the war till it is totally stamped out of the state.
The Ebonyi first lady, while addressing the mamot crowd of women, reminded them that August Meeting is an avenue to crossbreed ideas and renew their strength In diversity.
"I stand before you today, with a heart full of joy, as we gather for this esteemed 2023 Ebonyi Women's August Meeting. This annual tradition is a testament to the strength,resilience, and unity of women in our State. We have come together again to rub minds, empower ourselves and chart a course for the betterment of our families, communities and Ebonyi State.
"Throughout history, women have played pivotal roles in shaping societies, leading with compassion,wisdom, and determination. The August meeting is a reminder of the above fenets.They sum up the collective power we wield as women - a signal that what we represent,transcends generations and touches the lives of those around us positively.
"Ebonyi State today,both at the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government, women are well represented.We have been handed powerful wings to shoulder critical
responsibilities for the good of our husbands, children and Ebonyi State at large. It is
therefore audible to the deaf and visible to the blind,that this present administration
led by my beloved husband,His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru,is gender sensitive-supporting women on all fronts. As such, we must be firm, focused
and committed in our respective and collective assignments,to prove ourselves
capable of making significant changes in our society".
She emphasized the need for unity and togetherness among the women.
"I want to emphasize that our strength lies not only in our individual abilities but also in our unity. Together,we can overcome any obstacle,support one another,and inspire greatness in every Ebonyi woman. We are nurturers, caregivers,and the backbone of our families.Our impact
extends beyond the confines of our homes,reaching into the heart of our community.
Let us use this influence to foster love,unity, and progress within our families and
beyond.I encourage you all to seize this opportunity to be the change agents of Ebonyi State. As we discuss our challenges and aspirations, let us also propose
solutions and take concrete steps towards achieving our goals.
She called for collective effort of all, to prosecute the war against the ills in the state.
"Every adult,every community, every institution each of us has a part to play in ensuring the safety and happiness of the children around us. Through colloboration, compassion,and empathy,we can create a community that stands together, protecting and nurturing every child as if they were our own.As we gather here today to address this important theme, let us commit ourselves to action. Let us be the change that we want to see in the world. Let us be the voice for the voiceless".
The State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Deputy, Patricia Obila, commended the first for her onourous war against child frafficking and violence against women in the state and urged the wife of the council chairmen to take the message home.

Ace comedians, Sir one-on- one and MC Walter thrilled participants to a pulp, while cultural troops added glamour to the event.
The Commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy matters, Chief Uchenna Igwe Commended the wife of the Governor for uniting Ebonyi women, encouraged all well meaning members of the state to support the fight against the ugly menace in the state.
Highpoints was distribution of food items, grinding machine, sewing machine, generating sets among other items to rural women in the state.
