Just In; Samson Nwafor Emerges Ebonyi NUJ Chair

Comrade Samson Nwafor has been elected chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalist NUJ, Ebonyi State Council.

Comrade Samson Nwafor who is the immediate past chairman, correspondent chapel of NUJ emerged through a voice vote. In an adoption motion moved by Mr Ewa Nworie of Information chapel and seconded by Mr Godwin Aliuna of correspondent chapel, the members unanimously adopted Mr Samson Nwafor as the substantive chairman of the council.
 The event held at Dr Sam Egwiu Press Center, Abakaliki witnessed a large presence of members and the election was peacefully conducted.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Comrade Samson Nwafor commended his colleagues for reponsing such confidence in him and assured members of his readiness to work for the good of the Union.

He however, called for support of members as he cannot succeed without the support of members.

Recall that the position of the chairman became vacant following the elevations of the former chairman of Union, Comrade Tony Nwizi to the position of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of the state, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

Addressing the members of the Union, the national Vice president of NUJ, Mr Emmanuel Ifesinachi Commended the peaceful conduct of the election, describing Ebonyi Council as the most peaceful and urged them to give total support to the new chairman.


He Commended Ebonyi State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for appointing the immediate past chairman as Senior Special Assistant and other members to his cabinet.
