The Afikpo North Council Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam on Thursday, led leaders and other critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC to the Palace of Isuoha 1 of Ohaisu Autonomous Community who doubles as the Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Ezeogo Engr. Arch Ewa Elechi, on a Christmas and New year homage.
Speaking, Hon. Uche Ibiam stated it was based on their respect for traditional institutions that they chose to visit them in the palace instead of inviting them to the Local Government Council headquarters and appreciated them for collaborating with his office to have a peaceful environment wherein development can strive.
The Council Boss who noted that the Governor of Ebonyi State,Engr. David Nweze Umahi has so much regards and respect for Traditional institution which he has demonstrated from the onset of his government by increasing their salaries and handing over executive cars to them assured the Royal Fathers that the Local Government under his watch shall continue to create the enabling environment for them to discharge their Royal responsibilities without hiccups
Hon. Ibiam further aprreciated them for inconveniencing themselves only to ensure that local legislation that will advance the course of Ehugbo are made and promised to synergize with the Traditional Council of Elders to ensure a peaceful and well secured Local Government Area.
"We are here to felicitate with you, our revered elders and leaders. We are here because of the respect we have for the elders. We must highly commend you people for the way and manner you are taking guiding Afikpo people.
"We are aware we are going into elections and we want to have a very peaceful election, elections without bloodshed, you know people who are not fit, who do not have supporters for the elections will gang up to bring violence to each ward but it can't happen under our watch in Afikpo North. They will instigate problems and still be the ones to raise alarm, they are not comfortable with the peaceful atmosphere of Afikpo because they believe by now there will be a crisis in all communities in the LGA but they are not God because we have people like you that are leading us well, at the election day everybody will sit peacefully and watch the process move smoothly.
"Another reason we are here is to plead with you knowing that the election is around the corner and that you command respect among your people, it's time you tell them the directions Afikpo North is going. That direction is to vote for Dave Umahi for Senate and vote for APC at all levels knowing that by the grace of God when we achieve our votes more dividend will come to us.
The party has given Afikpo the slough of Deputy governor in the person of Princess Obila and more will still come to us.
On his part, the Director General of Ebonyi Broadcasting Cooperation EBBC, Engr Timothy Nwachi who is also the Director General, Divine Mandate campaign council, Afikpo North, Commended the Royal fathers for standing firm with the administration of Engr David Umahi and solicit their support in educating their subject on the need to vote for the candidates of APC.
"We need you most at this point because of your experience in human relationships, because of your experience in terms of societal management, in terms of crisis management, in all these there is non you are to be tutored on how it will be done. But to God be the glory of the divine mandate as long as Afikpo North is concerned know exactly the role you can play for us. For instance your Highness, we know your followers, we know your kingdom and we know the importance of your kingdom in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and we have come to plead with you to speak to your subject, for the sake of good governance.
We have seen good governance in what his excellency Governor Umahi is doing, and we have also seen good governance in what Mr. Speaker our incoming governor come May 29th is also doing, He has been able to stabilize the House of Assembly for these Seven years and seven months all the projects did so far by has the backing of the House so Nwifuru knows the projects and knows what it takes to make sure it is sustained.
We look upon you as the chairman of Afikpo traditional rulers to give us support".
Also speaking, the Chairman Divine mandate Campaign Council in Afikpo North, Chief Christopher Omo Isu, recounted the support of the traditional rulers so far and expressed optimism that with their support, victory is assured.
"We have never embarked on any battle, or competition without coming to you, and any time we do we get desired results that is why we have come here for your blessings.
This government we are going for loves Afikpo to have selected a woman and our daughter to be the deputy governor, it is the first time in history that if our state and APC in the state made this choice, we, therefore, need to support them for that singular gesture.
"Everybody should vote APC from A, we can not say let's vote APC in the governor and another party for other positions, that is not our pattern it is APC in all positions that our people need to vote for that is why we are soliciting for your blessing in this race".
Other major stakeholders that spoke including the Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Kingsley Ogbonnia Ikoro.
High Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Executive Chairman;UBEB; the Deputy Governorship candidate of APC, Hon Princess Patricia Obila, the Secretary of Afikpo North Divine Mandate Campaign Council,Chief Donatus Ezeogo Aja; the Afikpo North East House of Assembly candidate of APC, Hon. Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali, appreciated the traditional rulers and made them know that Afikpo North has been positioned to be very strategic in the next government of Ebonyi State hence the need for all hands to be on deck towards ensuring that all candidates of All Progressives Congress are delivered during the general elections.
Responding on behalf of the Royal Fathers in Afikpo North Local Government Area, the Isuoha 1 of Ohaisu Autonomous Community, Ezeogo Engr/ Arch. Ewa Elechi and Ezeogo Edward Ewa of Ibii/Ozizza Autonomous Community appreciated the Local Government Chairman and his entourage for such respect they have shown to them and promised never to take it for granted.
Similarly, the Local Government Chairman with his entourage paid homage to the Onikaras, Essas and Etos at Ulo -ubi Ehugbo in fulfilment of his campaign.
