Gov. Ortom Swears In Two Special Advisers

Governor Samuel Ortom, has sworn-in two new Special Advisers and restated his administration’s commitment to living out its core obligations to the Benue people, which are the security of lives and property.

Ortom performed the swearing ceremony on Wednesday at the governnment house Makurdi, disclosed the identities of the two Special Advisers, as Hon. Simon Namkwagh and Hon. Ibu Anthony Ibu.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu explained that though the task at hand is being hampered by the paucity of funds caused by the national and global economic problems, the government remains committed to its key responsibilities to the people.

He charged the new appointees to live up to the demands of their office and to uphold the core values of the administration, which are anchored on the fear of God, transparency, accountability, fairness, integrity, selflessness, humility, dedication, discipline, restitution, forgiveness and reconciliation.

He further explained that their appointment is guided by their fine qualities of competence, and character, and the need to show fairness, equity and justice in sharing projects and political appointments to give every geographical area a sense of belonging.

Ortom called on the Benue people to continue to look beyond partisan politics in appreciating the real threat and enemies of the state pose to both their land and their existence as a people.

Responding, Hon. Ibu Anthony Ibu assured the Governor that they will do all within their power to justify the confidence reposed in them.

The event was witnessed by the Secretary to the State Government, Anthony Ijohor, SAN, the State Head of Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke and several top government officials.
