Stakeholders of Ikwo Noyo clan, especially in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) received with utter disappoinment the spurious communique purportedly signed by some Stakeholders of Ikwo Noyo after a recent meeting with the State Governor. The said communique currently circulating on Social media claims that APC stakeholders of Ikwo extraction had not only agreed to zone the Ebonyi Central Senatorial ticket of the party to Ezza South Local Government Area but have also endorsed an aspirant from that area to contest for that seat.
In view of the above, Ikwo Noyo stakeholders hereby state as follows:
"That we did not at any point either before, during or after the recent meeting with the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr. David Nweze Umahi accept or concede under any guise to the purported zoning of the senatorial ticket to Ezza South. We hereby reiterate our stand that Ikwo is ripe and prepared to go for Senate in 2023.
"That it is undisputable that from 1999 to date, no Ikwo person has occupied the Senatorial seat. A similitude of such occupation was the shadowy and transient one by Dr. Emmanuel Onwe which was eventually aborted through legal process instituted by Sen. Julius Ali Ucha. As for the House of Representatives, Ikwo people have occupied the seat twice, while our brothers from Ezza South have occupied the seat for three consecutive times.
"We state without fear of contradiction that Ezza clan had at different times; 2007 to 2011 and 2011 to 2015 respectively occupied both the positions of the House of Representatives and the Senate simultaneously. And on moral, equity and logical grounds, there is nothing inherently wrong if all the parties zone their House of Representatives and the Senate slots to Ikwo LGA for the 2023 general elections.
"That it would be repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience if Ikwo is denied the senate slot whereas our beloved brothers of Ezza extraction have benefitted from similar arrangements in the past as stated in the immediate preceding paragraph. This is because what is good for the Goose is also good for the Gander.
"That we call on all the peddlers and promoters of this anti Ikwo Noyo clan communique to retract it and render apology to Ikwo people and ensure that such or other related publication is not seen on the media again.
"That while we adopt Comrade Chinedu Ogah who has performed excellently as our sole candidate for the the House of Representatives, we call on our ebulliently qualified sons, especially the current Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State to declare interest in the senatorial seat and count on our support to emerge victorious at the polls.
"We respectfully appeal to His Excellency Governor David Nweze Umahi, to in consideration of equity, morality, justice and in recognition of the loyalty, solidarity and effectiveness of his Deputy; Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe, support him for the position of the Senate in Ebonyi Central zone.
