The people of Ikwo Noyo have made it clear that they voted for Governor David Umahi and Dr Kelechi Igwe and not political party, during the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state and have reaffirmed their support and solidarity with the Governor and his Deputy in the midst of the ongoing legal battle.

This manifested on Tuesday, during a solidarity rally at Onu Ebonyiechara, the Council Headquarters.
Men, women and youths numbering hundreds of thousands gathered from all parts of the local government area to show their support and solidarity with Governor Umahi, his deputy and with the All progressives Congress.

One had the inscription: "We gave our mandate to persons of known antecedents and proven character and not political party." Another beared the inscription: "Government by appointment is not known to us". Various other inscriptions were written by the people from home and brought to the rally ground to support Their Excellencies.

Addressing the people, the Chairman of Ikwo LGA, Elder Stephen Orogwu,  said, "this rally is a demonstration of the massive support of Ikwo people for the governor of Governor Umahi and his Deputy, Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe, PhD.
"As  you can see, the people are not in support of the ruling of Justice Ekwo Inyang of the Abuja High Court who had arrogated to himself the legislative responsibility of lawmaking, and had in that false persona made an unprecedented addition to the constitutional requirements for the removal of elected governors and deputy governors in Nigeria".
Lawyers who spoke to the people, including Barr. Celestine Igberi Nweme, a former chairman of Ikwo LGA and a notable legal practitioner, and Barr. He assured Ikwo people that the APC led government would never relent in delivering good governance to the people and when elections would come in 2023 the APC would come totally overwhelm whatever is left of the opposition.

Hon.Moses Odunwa, member representing Ikwo South State Constituency at the State House of Assembly informed the people that he and follow members of the House of Assembly remained firmly in their positions. Idah and Chief Vitalis Ekechi Nwode expressed confidence that Governor Umahi, his deputy, our dear son, and all APC members of the House of Assembly would have the Ekwo judgement overturned at the Court of Appeals and if the sponsors of the case still take it to the Supreme Court, the case would be quashed there once and for for all, and in favour of the most benevolent party in Sub-Saharan Africa, APC.
