Ebonyi SSG flags off education, health summit in Abakaliki LGA

As part of the efforts to improve on health and educational sectors in Ebonyi State, the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, has officially flagged off a two day summit in Abakaliki Local Government Area, with the aim of sensitizing the people on  how to strategize and as well reposition the two sectors.

Dr. Ugbala who was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Dr. Augustine Nwuzor, while kicking off the summit at Nkaliki, the Council Headquarters, said that the essence of the summit was to enable participants especially the heath workers and the educationists to brainstorm and proffer solution on how to reposition the two sectors.

The SSG who expressed happiness with the number of people who came to participate in the summit, noted that he was not surprise that Abakaliki L.GAnormally take first in virtually everything they do because it is housing the state capital coupled with the zeal and relentless efforts of the vibrant, dynamic and able Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele, who has been encouraging the spirit of team work in the area, and advised the participants to put to use  all that would be taught to them, so as to achieve the aims and objectives of the summit.

He also pointed out that the State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Apostle David Nweze Umahi has done much especially in the area of infrastructure and human capacity building, stressing the need to help the governor to achieve his dreams for the health sector and educational system in the state.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele, thanked His Excellency the Governor, whom he said in his wisdom has touched all the sectors positively, and promised to continue stepping down all his programmes and policies to the grassroot level.

He also expressed his gratitude to the SSG for his official visit to the Council, and also commended the attendees of the programme, and advised them to take home all that they would learnt from the lecture series, in order to impact positively  to the society.

In their words of appreciation, the Chairman, Abakaliki Local Education Authority, Hon. Mrs Virginia Oketa, and the HPM of the Council, Mrs. Igwe Jenneth, observed that health and education sectors in Ebonyi State have remained at the front burner of Governor Umahi's led administration, stressing that the summit would help the participants to achieve great success in their various areas of endeavours, and promised to ensure judicious use of all that they would learnt from the summit.

The summit was attended by the members of Abakaliki Local Education Authority, the Health Workers, Principals of Secondary Schools, Headmasters/ Headmistresses from Abakaliki L.G.A, the resource persons, including the Administrative Secretary for Health in the L.G.A, Mrs. Ada Nweze, an experienced and retired health officer, Hon. Mrs. Roseline Ede, among other participants.
