Coal City Vice Chancellor kicks off football tournament amidst funfair.

The Vice Chancellor of the fastest growing University in Africa, Coal City University Enugu, Professor Afam Icha-Ituma on Friday kicked off the football tournament and other sports related engagements making the commencement of the 7day Students Week of the university.

The event which was held at the Main Bowl of the lush meadow stadium had the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Sylvester Igwe, Registrar, Rev Fr Dr Mathias Ikechukwu Odigbo, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Professor Joseph Aneke, Dean, Students Affairs, Ifeanyichukwu Arthur Onyia and other key staff of the university in attendance, watching with enthusiasm, the historic event.

Declaring the event open, Professor Afam Icha-Ituma observed that a healthy mind, no doubt lives in a body, insisting that the university will always incorporate sporting activities in its academic schedules.

The Vice Chancellor further noted the sports competition among various faculties and teams will not only foster social and academic ties among participating teams, but also serve as an avenue to scout for best football talents capable of playing in the national team, other top FCs in Europe. He urged the players to be good ambassadors of the university in all areas both in academicss sports and good conduct.

Meanwhile, the match which featured Prof. Chinedu Nebo's team scored 2 goals against their rival team while
Prof. Afam Ituma's team recorded  2 goals, making the team leading in the first round of the group stage.
