Umahi pledges partnership with NASENI to diversify Ebonyi economy

Governor David Nweze Umahi has pledged partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, to diversify economy and promote youth capacity in Ebonyi State.


Umahi in a statement issued and made available to newsmen by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Francis Nwaze, made this remark while playing host to a delegation of NASENI at Governor's Office, new Government House, Abakaliki this Wednesday.

The governor said that the solution to most of the country's predicaments lie in the creativity of Nigerians especially youths, and indicated interest to partner with NASENI to diversify the state's economy and promote the capacity of the youths.


He charged youths to sit up and channel their youthful exuberance in proffering solutions to some of the challenges confronting the nation.

He also assured of his administration's commitment to collaborate with the agency to estalish a workshop that will train Ebonyi Youths to specialize in assemblage and fabrication of homegrown solutions to the needs of the Nation.

"Your potential has no meaning if it cannot be deployed, if you are an erudite Professor, you can teach us beautiful things but you cannot translate them, practically, it has no meaning," he hinted.

Umahi commended the agency for being practical in the search for solutions to Nigeria's problems.

Earlier, the Vice Chairman of NASENI, Professor  Sani Haruna said the agency is poised to provide domestic remedy to National problems through technological solutions.

He explained that the Agency has the capacity to provide solar energy, fabricate motorcycles, trucks, aircraft, tricycles and other groundbreaking domestic interventions that would turn around the fortunes of the Nigerian Nation.

"We are an Agency with the mandate to promote and fastrack safe reliance, Technology and knowledge manufacturing and human development, we do alot of training in skills and Building capacities and we use locally available raw material for our productions and this raw material is silica, and silica is from sand and sand is free of charge"

Professor Sani Haruna recommended the application of solar powered solution to challenges of electricity supply and transportation to stabilize the Nation's  critical sectors.

He commended Governor Umahi for doing the Engineering Profession proud through standard infrastructural projects in the State such as the concrete roads, the shopping mall among others, describing him as the best Governor of the year.

The leader of the NASENI team enjoined Governor Umahi to make himself available to escalate his exploits in the State to the Country as President of Nigeria come 2023.

The state governor was joined in receiving the National Agency for Science  and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI team by Principal officers of Government.
