The immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congresss, APC in Ebonyi State, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze has debunked a report alleging that Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha's led Caretaker Committee of the state Chapter is illegal.

Eze who is the state Commissioner for Inter Governmental Affairs gave this clarification while briefing Journalists at Abakaliki and described the report as the handiwork of miscreants who are looking ways to claim cheap popularity by instigating crisis in the APC family in the state.

The APC Chieftain said that the report had been circulated on the media and urged general public, the supporters and members of APC to discountenance it, stressing that the party would not allow enemies to interfere with its already built peace and unity.

He said that Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha and his caretaker committee members have remained peaceful and united since they took over the party leadership in the state and wondered how faceless miscreants who are not party members began to spread falsehood to tarnish the image of the party.

Hear him: "It has become expedient that I react to the publication alleging leadership crisis in our great party over the appointment of Okoro-Emegha as Chairman, Caretaker Committee of APC in Ebonyi State.

“I am the immediate past Chairman of APC and the emergence of Stanley Okoro-Emegha as the current Chairman, Caretaker Committee is a welcome development, and followed a laid down legal and constitutional provisions of our party.

“Myself as the leader of the State Working Committee (SWC) and other members stepped aside when the National leadership of the party led by Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State came here and inaugurated the committee which we all accepted.

“We know it in principle as enshrined in our party constitution in 2013 that if a governor joins the party, he automatically takes over the party structure.

“This provision made it possible for Bukola Saraki and and  Rotimi Amaechi as then governors of Kwara and Rivers states respectively to take over the APC structure in their states during the Member from the New PDP.

“The agreement still subsists. This is why when Gov Dave Umahi joined the party, the same played out and we vacated office.

“Umahi took over the party structure and in his magnanimity blended it to include old APC members and those who joined the party with the governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The party constitution is clear on rights and privileges of members that once you register and join the party, you automatically become an equal beneficiary with old members."

Pastor Eze added that it was wrong for for individuals or group to start looking means to inject crisis into the party and to insist that former State Workin Committee, SWC members which were dissolved in accordance with the party constitution be reinstated.

“I am a founding member of APC and has held several positions in the party, the group calling for the dissolution of the Stanley Okoro-Emegha led Caretaker committee are not members of our party, they are faceless individuals."

The State Commissioner eulogized the  administration of Governor David Nweze Umahi for promoting infrastructural development in the state, transparency and fiscal accountability in governance, saying his leadership ingenuities speak volume across the country.

NATIONAL PANEL gathered that a group under the aegis of an acclaimed concerned foundation members of the All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi State allegedly rejected Stanley Okoro Emegha's led Caretaker Committee in the state recently.

The group petitioned the national leadership of APC, alleged that Stanley Okoro Emegha's led Caretaker Committee was imposed on the foundation members of APC in Ebonyi State.

The group made this known through a petition signed by their state leaders including Mr Silas Oketa, Mr Linus Nweze, Mr Ogbu Joseph Nweke and forwarded to the national leadership of APC, which copies was made available to newsmen.

They argued that Stanley Okoro Emegha's led Caretaker Committee was not a registered member of APC rather a card carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is allegedly imposed on the foundation members of APC.

The petition reads in part: “We are concerned Ebonyi State APC stakeholders and concerned foundation members of APC in Ebonyi State.

“Some PDP cards carrying members, led by Stanley Okoro, a serving Commissioner in Ebonyi state, who have not formally registered as members of APC, were purportedly nominated, imposed or adopted as the purported Caretaker of the APC in Ebonyi State, which attracted much Condemnations, protests and objection by the teaming foundation members and stakeholders of APC in Ebonyi state.

“That based on the protests letters, objection and complaints emanating from different states, including Ebonyi state, the APC then convoked and held its emergency national executive meeting on 08/12/2020, wherein the NEC dissolved and approved the  dissolution of the party organs, from the smallest organ at the ward level to the national level.

“The NEC also in its 4th resolution unanimously  approved the reconstitution and the composition of the dissolved Excos to serve in their respective offices in a Caretaker Committee capacity.

The groups insisted that they will not accept or regard Stanley Okoro led caretaker committee as authentic but the Chief Eze Nwachukwu Eze led caretaker committee of APC.

“By the above unanimous decision of the NEC, it is clear that it is the elected APC Excos led by Chief Eze Nwachukwu Eze, Engr Jeff Ogbu and or that remains the valid APC Caretaker Committee in Ebonyi state.

“By virtue of the NEC 4th resolution, which had unanimously approved the immediate reconstitution and composition of the dissolved Excos (Chief Eze Nwachukwu Eze, Engr Jeff Ogbu and Or) to serve in their respective offices in a Caretaker Committee capacity, to the exclusion of the makeshift PDP card carrying members, now parading themselves as the APC Caretaker Committee in Ebonyi state, who are now seeking recognition of the APC national leadership and the NEC by all means.

“We are baffled that the new entrants, who are yet to formally register as members of the APC in Ebonyi state, are now treating the foundation members of the APC in Ebonyi state as a pariah or strangers and boasted openly that they are the owners of the APC and are now busy demanding for and struggling to take over the structure of the party in Ebonyi state with the support of some compromised members of the party. This is the height of impunity, which is a danger sign and signal, which the party should not joke with or treat with levity.

“Information now at our clients’ disposal indicates that the aforesaid impositors, who are yet to formally register as APC members in Ebonyi state, have concluded the plans to impose themselves as the APC Caretaker Committee in Ebonyi state, to hijack the materials meant for the party in Ebonyi state, as regards the yet to be kick started APC membership registration and revalidation exercise

“Be informed that the APC constitution remains the ground norm which guides the party and its members. To be noted that the APC resolution unanimously reached on 08/12/2020 is still valid and subsisting and no member(s) of the Party, no matter how highly placed, can by use of arbitrary fiat, deception; unconventional and illegal method, impose, or adopted the purported APC Caretaker Committee led by Stanley Okoro as its Caretaker Committee in Ebonyi state.

“To be noted that, should the party insist on the adventure, any acts or actions by the purported APC Caretaker Committee led by Stanley Okoro remains null and void, hence the need for the APC NEC and its leadership to look before they leap to avoid any regret or a situation of helplessness, which is inevitable, should the party decide to throw caution to the wind.

“That the foundation members (old) APC members in Ebonyi state who suffered with the party at odd time or trying moment should not be sidelined or treated as parial and underdogs by the APC leadership while the aforesaid who are yet to be registered members of the party should be called to order.

“That the Exco led by Chief Eze Nwachukwu Eze, Engr Jeff Ogbu and Ors be recognized and be related to  the APC Caretaker Committee in Ebonyi state, in line with the APC NEC resolutions reached on 08/12/2020.

“That the on no account should the purported APC Caretaker Committee led by Stanley Okoro, should be accorded any recognition or related with in Ebonyi state, as action nor duty assigned to  or performed by them remains a void act and an illegality which may hurt, affect the future fortunes of the party in Ebonyi state.

“That the leadership of the party should desist from any act of impunity or illegality and avoid acts that may plunge the party into unnecessary bickering, leadership crisis or log-jam, or the same will be vigorously and legally challenged” he stated.

But the former APC Chairman in Ebonyi, Eze Nwachukwu Eze has cleared that the the Caretaker Committee led by Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha remains legal, authentic and unquestionable and further urged general public especially the party faithfuls to disregard the petition from the acclaimed concerned foundation members and stakeholders of APC in the state.
