GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN EBONYI STATE EXTENDED SPECIAL PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, ARC.(DR) EDWARD NKWEGU OFR ON THE FLAG OFF OF THE EBONYI STATE EXTENDED SPECIAL PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME IN ABAKALIKI EBONYI STATE ON MONDAY 11TH JANUARY 2021.

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the flag off of the Ebonyi State Federal Government Special Public Works Programme. As you already know, this Programme which was graciously approved by President Muhammad Buhari has recruited One Thousand (#1,000) itinerants, unskilled and skilled workers each in all the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria. In total about 774,000 Nigerians have been recruited across the Country.
In Ebonyi State,we have recruited Thirteen Thousands (13,000) Ebonyians for this programme. This number include skilled and unskilled labour,with specific directives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The 1,000(One thousand)persons recruited per Local Government Areas would be engaged by the Federal Government between January and March this year to carry out Public Works that are peculiar to each Local Government Area. They would be paid a total sum of #60,000 (Sixty Thousand Naira) each that is #20,000 (Twenty Thousand Naira) per month, amounting to Seven Hundred and Eighty Million Naira (#780,000,000) in three Months in Ebonyi State only.
Participants must therefore see this task as serious patriotic national assignment. This Programme can rightly be described as one of President Muhammad Buhari's many star programmes for the lowly,weak,and vulnerable people in our society. Hence,you must treat it as such.
Ebonyi people are known for their tranquility, industry and honesty.As one big family which we are, it is my belief that together we shall ensure that we achieve great success in this laudable project of Mr. President.
However, the Federal Government will not hesitate to remove and replace any participant that do not adhere strictly to the guidelines given to him/her or acts in such a way and manner as to undermine the purpose of this Programme.
It is for the above reasons that I congratulate the Hon. Minister of the State for Labour and Employment,The Acting DG,NDE, the Governor of Ebonyi State,The Ebonyi State FGN-ESPW selection Committee,all participants,and my dear brothers and Sisters for a successful kick off of the Programme.
