The Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Dr. Kenneth Igwe Ugbala has expressed optimism towards the year 2021, saying it would change the ugly narratives that bedeviled 2020.

Ugbala who made this proclamation on new year day while interacting with newsmen at his country home, Okofia in Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State, said people have been waiting for the arrival of the 2021, because of the challenges they witnessed in 2020 and however, stated that the new year would replenish the losses of the previous one.

"We want to encourage our people to keep their faith strong, believing that God is with us. We are going to record some other remarkable achievements in the year 2021. Every Ebonyi man, wherever he is located is going to be embraced with a new set of blessings.

"I know that different prophecies have come from our different prophets but the year can be only what you call it in line with our faith, because that is the only currency we have to spend as we enter the new year.

"I know it will be a year of great testimony for Ebonyi State and Nigeria in general. We can never see all the challenges we saw in 2020, because I know it is a year that has come to replenish all the 2020 has stolen from us.

Earlier, the SSG congratulated the first family in the state, other esteemed leaders and the people of goodwill in the entire nation.

"First, we want to thank Almighty God for another beautiful year and to congratulate the first family, especially the governor and the wife, the deputy governor, other leaders of the state.

"I wish the President, the governor of Ebonyi State, senators and all the leaders, a prosperous new year, believing that as we keep our faith in God, it is a year that will take us from one level to another especially in Ebonyi, where we just embrace a brand new APC family."

Ugbala thanked God for the year 2020, which in his words, was very challenging but the testimony and victory were recorded irrespective of the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, EndSARS protest, IPOB saga, and other hard experiences witnessed in 2020.

"We are grateful to God. All these challenges have turned into our promotion.

"Every time we conquer each of the challenges, it is taking us to the next level. We equally had a year that a defection of the governor of Ebonyi State raised dust more than any other issue. It's equally a credit to Ebonyi State. It means we are already recognized not only within Nigeria but outside the country, because every other person defected has never raised such dust.

"For 2021 is the year we've been waiting for. We prayed endlessly to see a brand new year, because the challenges of  2020. Though in Ebonyi State was different because the Bible says when man is cast down, there's a lifting up. We functioned and we are still functioning with a difference. So, we want to believe that 2021 with the year has started, God is going to take Ebonyi State, Ebonyians, all who have wished Ebonyi well even our great country Nigeria, a greater height in Jesus name, Amen," he prayed.

He noted that Ebonyi government expects more supports from Federal government to really justified that its power is not only limited in the tate but  now in connection with the centre.

He therefore, commended Umahi's move to APC, encouraging Ebonyi people to continue to support the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the movement of Umahi to the national party because it is for the interest of the Igbo people, and the unity of the country at large.
