2023: Atiku urges Nigerians to Keep faith with PDP

By Victor Nwegede

Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democractic Party in the country has urged Nigerians to hold firm their faith with PDP.

Atiku in few minutes ago went to his Twitter handle and made the call.

He described PDP as the best friend Nigeria could have and urged all geopolitical zones in the country to embrace the party with a full assurance to always employ an equitable spirit when in control of power.

According to him, "the @officailPDP has much to offer all party of Nigeria, and I urge all Nigerians in all zones to keep faith with a party that has kept faith with Nigerians and will be equitable to all.

"The Peoples Democratic Party is the best friend Nigeria could have. All geopolitical zones deserve a political party that believes in Nigeria and not a party that believes otherwise."

It could be recalled that Atiku's plea to Nigerians to throw their weight around the major recognized opposition party at the National level came up at the heat of the planned defection of the Chairman of South East Governors Forum, Dave Umahi from PDP to APC.

Dave Umahi, also the Governor of Ebonyi State, declared his planned defection open before the leadership of PDP at the national level.

Umahi has met the PDP leaders under the watch of Uche Secondus, and made his decision to leave PDP for APC open.

Efforts made by the PDP leaders to convince Umahi against his move to the ruling party at the centre, APC, has proved abortive following their refusal to zone the 2023 Presidential ticket to South East region as demanded by the Ebonyi State governor.

Both the state and national leadership of APC have seen Umahi's defection to their party as a big catch in a superficial view of it, except an insignificant number who tried to thwart the planned deal.

Meanwhile, the governor was cited in a media report to have swung into action to woo all the South East Governors to join APC with him since the PDP refused to zone the 2023 Presidential candidate to the region starting from 1999 till date.
