The people of Oziza and Unwana communities in Afikpo North Local government area of Ebonyi on Wednesday expressed worry over a dead body sighted at the Council's gate, saying it was then uncomfortable.
They told reporters that the dead body has been at the Council's bustop since three days and no officials of the council made effort to evacuate the corpse.
Some of the residents, who preferred anonymity said the corpse cannot be identified and pointed out that it was the responsibility of the council to verify the person's identity.
"It has been making the environment uncomfortable, we have suffered air pollution since three days. We do not know the identity of the corpse," they said.
In her reaction, Mrs. Obiageri Enyim, Executive Chairman of the council told reporters that the council had been up and doing at improving security in the area.
On dead body at the Council's bustop, Enyim explained that health officials in the area have evacuated it.
"Yes, it was a mad person but health personnel have done the needful. I do not think that the corpse is still laying there, you can go see for yourself," she explained.
