Association of Izzi Media Workers condemns attacks on #EndSARS protesters, demands full-scale investigation

The Association of Izzi Media Workers, a conglomeration of all Media Workers of Izzi extraction in Nigeria has condemned the gruesome massacre of armless and defenceless #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State last week by alleged security agencies.

The Association made the condemnation in a statement endorsed by National President Comrade Sunday Nwambam and Public Relations Officer Comrade Boniface Nwankwo in Abakaliki.

The statement while acknowledging peaceful protest as a veritable means of registering dissatisfaction with Government’s programmes and services in advanced democracies wondered why security agencies would clampdown on the demonstrators leading to carnages across the country and demanded immediate investigation into the ugly incident to bring perpetrators to book.

According to the statement, the Association however decried the hijack of the peaceful protest by hoodlums resulting to wanton destructions of Government institutions, invasion of personal properties, looting, arson and other forms of criminalities in parts of the country, describing the development as a radical departure from the original intent of the #EndSARS protests.

The Association of Izzi Media Workers while appealing to youths across the country to jettison the protests having made their demands known to the Government, urged Government at all levels to meticulously set efforts in place to address the genuine concerns of the protesters in order to completely restore normalcy and foster national reconciliation and unity.
