Tinubu "Must Stay Protest" hits Ebonyi

By Celestine Okeh,

As the country looks forward to January 16 Presidential election in 2027, a Pro Tinubu protest has erupted in various parts of Ebonyi State as residents trooped out to counter the alleged anti Tinubu protest.

Over 15,000 protesters who chanted Tinubu solidarity songs, brandishing placards with different inscriptions which included 'Tinubu beyond 2027, Tinubu Must Stay, We believe in Tinubu among others marched across various parts of Ebonyi State in solidarity to the President and All Progressives Congress, APC.

Addressing the mammoth crowd which had come to show solidarity with him in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital, the Honourbale Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi thanked the people for their support to President Bola Tinubu.

Umahi thanked the crowd for peacefully marching in solidarity to Mr President, adding that a few misguided political opportunists are sponsoring anti Tinubu protest to make up their dwindling acceptance in some parts of the North and Nigeria in general.

The Minister said no sane citizen would on his own volition undertake to protest against Tinubu, a man who is repositioning the country and bringing reforms that are placing the country on the path of growth.

He said the anti Tinubu protest is a clear sign of the fact that opposition in the country lacks direction and they don't have anything to campaign with as President Tinubu has made it practically impossible to have a loophole to campaign against him.

Leader of the Pro Tinubu protest, under the aegis of Ebonyi United Forum, Comrade Chinedu Nwali said they took to the streets of Abakaliki and other parts of the state to express their dissatisfaction with the distractions from opposition elements against President Tinubu and warned that the youths and indeed Ebonyi State will no longer sit back and watch the administration which has remembered the state to be distracted.

Nwali said their solidarity march was to sensitize the people especially the youths on the gains already made by the president and said they are going to stand and defend the administration from any detractors by all means.

He warned that Ebonyi State shall not condone any form of distraction and campaign of calumny against President Tinubu, Governor Francis Nwifuru and the Honourbale Minister of Works, adding that Ndigbo will stand with the President.

"If other States are sitting on the fence, we Enonyians are not going to sit on the fence, we must make our stand known because we are people who show appreciation to the numerous projects Mr. President has used our son to do in the South East and Nigeria in general. So this solidarity protest or March as you can call it is to warn that the state is locked for Mr. President and Governor Nwifuru, nobody should bring any form of madness in the name of political distraction because we shall resist them with everything legally and morally possible.

"Umahi is our son and we shall protect him from the rest of the few political merchants who maliciously attack him for believing in his own conviction that President Tinubu is the best and remains the best in the interest of Ndigbo and Nigeria at large. We decided to undertake this protest because we want to show the rest of the country that Ebonyi State is a no go area for the headless mob.

The protesters marched round the state chanting solidarity songs for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru.
