The Polling Unit Mobilisation for FON (PUM), Ebonyi State, has inaugurated the Abakaliki Urban Chapter, Women Wing and Hausa and Yoruba Communities' Executives as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at New Layout Primary School, Abakaliki, was conducted by the Vision Bearer and State Coordinator of the organisation, Comrade Ogbuefi Zaccheaus Ifeuwabundidi.

The latest inauguration followed the earlier inauguration of the organisation's State, Zonal and 13 Local Government Area executives across Ebonyi State.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ifeuwabundidi commended the calibre of individuals selected to serve in the various capacities, describing their emergence as a demonstration of the organisation's commitment to building a formidable grassroots political structure.

He reaffirmed PUM's determination to intensify mobilisation across the state, collapse opposition structures and secure overwhelming re-election victories for Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

The State Coordinator also directed the constitution of 21-member polling unit executive and mobilisation teams across the nine political wards in Abakaliki Urban within one week.

He disclosed that the inauguration of the newly constituted polling unit executives would take place simultaneously across the state.

At the ceremony, the Abakaliki Urban Chapter was inaugurated with the serving Councillor representing New Layout Ward, Hon. Okpokwu Uchechukwu, as its leader.
The organisation's State Trustee, Professor Adaeze Nwuzor, inaugurated the Women Wing, while other members of the State Executive, including Comrade Ifeanyi Ukpai, Dr. David Igwe, Rev. Emmanuel Nwankwo, Mrs. Rachael Nworie, Comrade Onyibe Chinedu and Mrs. Agbodike Obianuju, performed the inauguration of the Hausa and Yoruba Communities' Executives, Media Aides and Liaison Officer, respectively.

In their separate acceptance speeches, Hon. Okpokwu Uchechukwu and Mrs. Agbodike Obianuju applauded Ifeuwabundidi for the initiative and pledged their commitment to the objectives of the organisation.

They assured the leadership of their readiness to mobilise support at the grassroots for the re-election of Governor Nwifuru and the electoral success of other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

The inauguration further expands PUM's grassroots mobilisation network, which the organisation says is aimed at establishing active and effective political structures across polling units, wards and communities in Ebonyi State.

With the latest development, PUM says it is strengthening its mobilisation machinery to consolidate support for Governor Nwifuru's second-term ambition and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
