She added that since the present administration came on board three years ago, workers salaries, including other forms of remuneration have witnessed an upward rise for the betterment of Ebonyi workers and the citizens at large.
Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki after a crucial meeting with some selected Journalists on how to sustain and boost the legacies of the present administration, the SA to the Governor argued that no aspiring Governorship candidate in the 2027 general election in State or past Governor can out-achieve Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, in terms of workers' welfare and human capital development.
According to her, the Governor through his Special Welfare Intervention Packages, SWIP, has been able to give hope to Ebonyi workers, who gave their best to the service of the state by paying their pensions and gratuities till date.
"This initiative of the present administration, remains second to none in the whole of South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. My boss has been able to give lifeline to the lifeless, hope to the hopeless and power to the powerless.
"Workers of Ebonyi state are indeed blessed to have the person of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on the seat of power. He is magnanimous towards them. December is approaching and it will surprise you again, on what the Governor has in stock for Ebonyi workers. He is a man that believes that a worker deserves his wage.
"When the performance of a government is discussed, attention is often drawn to the physical things it built—roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, markets and other public infrastructure, but there is another form of infrastructure that is equally important and perhaps more directly felt by ordinary families and that is the purchasing power and economic wellbeing of the people."
She emphasized that the Governor having understood the situation of Ebonyi people decided to fashion his policies towards improving the welfare of every Ebonyi worker, including Journalists.
"This is where Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s interventions in workers’ remuneration, bonuses, pensions and grassroots officials’ pay become significant. He made sure that no category of Ebonyi citizen is left out in his empowerment schemes." He stated
Ania who is passionate about the present administration in the State, further explained that "For the Civil servants, public servants, pensioners or grassroots political office holder, enhanced remuneration is not an abstract government policy. It translates into money available for food, school fees, healthcare, transportation, rent and other household necessities."
She added that the economic situation of Ebonyi workers has changed overwhelmingly adding that the present administration has been able to put money into the pockets of Ebonyi citizens, to enable them gain financial capacity and freedom to handle their domestic responsibilities.
"In that sense, putting more money in the pockets of citizens is another form of infrastructure—stomach infrastructure. And one of the most significant components of Governor Nwifuru’s workers’ welfare policy has been the upward review of salaries. The recent upward review of the remuneration of grassroots workers, minimum wage to civil servants and seasonal bonuses to Ebonyi workers are some of the examples.
"A salary increase does not merely change a figure on a payslip. It potentially increases the amount a worker can spend in the local economy and improves the capacity of families to meet their daily obligations."
She noted that, for thousands of Ebonyi workers, therefore, enhanced remuneration and additional seasonal largesse is a direct intervention in household welfare.
According to her, the significance of such payments goes beyond the immediate beneficiaries. When workers receive additional income, that money is spent in local markets, shops, transport businesses and other establishments.
"In this way, government welfare interventions can circulate through the wider economy. The worker benefits. The trader benefits. The transporter benefits. The local economy benefits.
"Aside enhanced salaries for the state’s civil servants, the Governor had earlier transmitted an Executive Bill seeking to review the remuneration of political and public office holders at the Local Government and Development Centre levels and on September 23, 2026, the Ebonyi State House of Assembly passed bill into law." He stressed
The SA on Media made it clear that Governor Nwifuru’s development agenda presents two sides of the same coin.
She said: "There is the visible infrastructure—roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, markets and other public facilities. Then, there is the human infrastructure—salaries, bonuses, pensions, gratuities and improved remuneration. One improves the physical environment, the other improves the economic capacity of the people living in that environment.
"Ultimately, a road can connect a community to a market, but a salary can determine whether a family can afford what that market sells. A hospital can provide treatment, but a worker’s income can determine whether the family can meet its other expenses.
"A school can provide education, but household income can determine whether children have the resources needed to remain in school. This is why the concept of stomach infrastructure deserves a broader interpretation." She concludes
