NEMA Donates Relief Materials To Ebonyi Flood Victims

The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has provided relief materials worth millions of Naira to the victims of recent flood disasters in Akaeze and Ishiagu  Communities of Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The materials include, Bags of Beans, Rice, Garri ;  cartons of vegetable oil ; pieces of Foam Mattresses, mosquito Nets and Women wears 

Speaking when he received the management team from the Agency who are in the State  to handover the materials, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru expressed dismay over the incessant cases of flood disaster in some parts of the State, describing it as devastating.

He commended NEMA for their prompt response to alleviate the plights of the victims whom he said lost means of their livelihood to the unfortunate incident.

" I am grateful to NEMA for this show of concern and this support is something we will never take for granted."

He said he is  optimistic that very soon, the Federal and State Government will address the problem  of flooding in the State.

" As a member of the Economic Council, I am aware  we have been  making valuable recommendations and resources have   been mapped out to address the menace . I'm sure with the commitment of Mr President, the issues will be addressed"

The Governor assured the Agency that the State will be transparent in the distribution of the relief materials by ensuring it gets to the genuine victims.

The Director, Relief and rehabilitation, Mr.  Imam Gariki told the Governor that NEMA , Enugu Operations had  conducted an assessment to determine the extent of damage and the level of Federal Government's assistance required .

He appealed to the State Government to ensure prompt distribution of the materials directly to the victims.
