Chief Dr Ugo Magnus Kel, has formally declared his candidacy for the 2027 Senatorial election to represent the good people of Ebonyi Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
His declaration is anchored on a firm commitment to provide effective representation, progressive legislation, constituency development, economic empowerment, and accountable leadership
for the people of Ebonyi Central.
In his declaration statement, Dr.Magnus said:
"I stand ready to serve the people of Ebonyi Central. This election is not simply about occupying a seat in the Senate? It is about giving our people a stronger voice, attracting meaningful development, and using legislative power to create opportunities that improve lives.
"I am offering practical leadership, effective representation, and a results-driven legislative agenda. I believe Ebonyi Central deserves a Senator who will be accessible to the people, courageous in the National Assembly, and relentless in pursuing development for our communities.
In a release from his Campaign Office, Chief Dr Ugo Magnus Kel, outlined key priority areas of his legislative focus to include: infrastructure and Constituency development; healthcare services; Education and youth development; Economic empowerment and Agriculture; Innovation and human capital development; Security and Community development; Effective Legislation and oversight.
In the area of infrastructure and Constituency development, Dr. Magnus said, he will advocate for the rehabilitation and construction of critical roads, improved electricity supply, access to clean water, rural development, and digital connectivity across Ebonyi Central.
Through effective representation, budget advocacy, legislative oversight, and strategic engagement with relevant federal agencies, he will pursue projects that deliver measurable impact on communities across the senatorial district.
In healthcare services, he said,his legislative agenda will prioritise stronger primary healthcare, improved access to medical facilities, support for maternal and child healthcare, health insurance awareness, and interventions that enhance healthcare delivery across the constituency.
In the area of Education and youth development, Dr. Magnus, revealed that he will champion legislation and interventions that improve educational infrastructure, teacher development, scholarships, digital learning, and technical and vocational education.
According to him, particular emphasis will be placed on equipping young people with practical skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to programmes that promote economic independence.
In the area of Economic empowerment and Agriculture, he assured that in recognising the central role of agriculture, small businesses, and entrepreneurship in Ebonyi Central, he will advocate for greater access to financing, agricultural support programmes, value-chain development, and opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
His objective is to move constituents from dependency to productive participation in the economy.
In innovation and human capital development, Dr.Magnus will promote innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, and partnerships between educational institutions, the private sector, and government agencies.
He will pursue initiatives that connect young people with modern skills, employment opportunities, and emerging sectors of the economy.
In the area of Security and Community development, he reiterated that Security remains fundamental to economic and social progress, and vowed to use his legislative and oversight responsibilities to advocate for a stronger security architecture, improved intelligence gathering, community-based security initiatives, and better cooperation between security agencies and local communities.
Recognizing effective legislation and oversight as a core mandate of a legislature, Dr. Magnus said at Senate, he will support progressive, people-centred legislation that promotes economic growth, protects citizens’ rights, strengthens institutions, improves transparency, and creates an enabling environment for investment.
He will also exercise his constitutional oversight responsibilities to ensure that government programmes and public resources deliver meaningful value to the people of Ebonyi Central.
Dr. Ugo Magnus said he is committed to establishing a strong constituency engagement framework, including regular town-hall meetings and direct engagement with communities, traditional institutions, women, youth, professionals, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.
According to him, his representation will be built aroundaccessibility, accountability, and measurable results.
