The Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Reformatory Institutions Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has commended Izzi clan for their commitment in preserving her rich cultural heritage, urging them to strive to sustain it for future generations.

This was contained in a message sent to Izzi clan on the occasion of 2026 ojiji new yam festival.

His message reads:
"On behalf of the good people of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, I warmly felicitate with the great people of Izzi on the celebration of Ojiji Izhi Nnodo Ekumenyi, a cherished cultural tradition that embodies the rich heritage, identity, unity and communal spirit of the Izhi people.

"Culture is the soul of a people. It preserves our history, strengthens our sense of belonging, promotes unity and serves as a bridge between generations. Celebrations such as this remind us of the values, traditions and bonds that define our communities and deserve to be preserved for generations yet unborn.

"I particularly commend the Izzi people and honour the revered Izzi patriarchs and forebears whose wisdom, sacrifices and commitment preserved this rich cultural heritage and transmitted its cherished traditions from one generation to another. I also commend the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his purposeful efforts to foster unity, peace and harmony across the State while promoting and preserving Ebonyi’s rich cultural heritage. His administration continues to demonstrate that meaningful development can go hand in hand with the preservation of our identity and traditions.

*As the Izzi people gather today, Friday, 28th August 2026, at the ancestral home of Nnodo in Amegu Izzi, I urge all sons and daughters of Izzi to continue to uphold the cherished values of peace, unity, love, brotherhood and communal responsibility.

"May Ojiji Izhi Nnodo Ekumenyi continue to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, preserve the rich heritage of the Izzi people and inspire greater unity, peace and progress in Ebonyi State.
Happy Ojiji Izhi Nnodo Ekumenyi!"
