A political analyst and House of Representatives aspirant, Aliuna Godwin, has cautioned critics and political mischief-makers against allegedly circulating false information suggesting that Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has been excluded from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Aliuna, who is contesting the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election, gave the warning while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The veteran journalist described claims of Nwifuru’s exclusion as misleading, insisting that the governor was neither singled out nor deliberately targeted in the initial composition of the campaign structure.
According to him, the initial 108-man national campaign structure did not assign individual leadership positions to all the 31 APC governors across the country.
Aliuna explained that only 11 governors were given specific individual leadership responsibilities in the initial arrangement, while other governors, including Nwifuru, remained state coordinators in line with the broader structure of the party’s campaign machinery.
He said the development should therefore not be interpreted as an attempt to undermine or sideline the Ebonyi governor, stressing that the initial list itself had generated concerns among party leaders over geographical balance and adequate representation of stakeholders.
Aliuna noted that the controversy surrounding the South-East representation was understandable, particularly with some prominent positions reportedly assigned to other figures, including Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, in certain capacities.
He, however, pointed out that President Tinubu subsequently ordered the withdrawal and review of the initial campaign council list to address perceived gaps in geographical representation and stakeholder inclusion.
The political analyst urged APC supporters and members of the public to await the outcome of the reconstituted structure rather than relying on unverified claims or politically motivated interpretations of the withdrawn list.
Aliuna also dismissed insinuations that Governor Nwifuru’s political relevance to President Tinubu’s re-election bid could be determined by whether or not he appeared in a particular position on an initial campaign list.
He recalled that Nwifuru had consistently demonstrated his loyalty and support for President Tinubu, including publicly declaring his commitment to the President’s 2027 re-election and insisting that Ebonyi State has no alternative to Tinubu.
According to him, Nwifuru’s political activities in Ebonyi have also remained focused on strengthening the APC at the grassroots and delivering effective governance, rather than pursuing national campaign titles.
Aliuna further cited the governor’s role in consolidating the APC’s political structure in the state, including the recent local government elections in which the party recorded victories across the chairmanship and councillorship positions.
He therefore called on political actors to shun blackmail, misinformation and unnecessary controversy, urging them to concentrate on issues capable of strengthening the APC and advancing President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Aliuna maintained that Governor Nwifuru’s loyalty to the President and his influence within Ebonyi politics could not reasonably be erased by the initial omission of an individual leadership designation in a campaign structure that had already been withdrawn for review.
